ScotchDave
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, one of my friends plays a taylor 410ce, 2005 model. He however has recently found that gel is leaking from the internal pickups, none of the guitar techs he's seen know what's going on, so I thought I'd ask on here for him...Dave

ScotchDave
He says it's from the pick ups, as they seem to use some sort of gel in the picking up of music, it's the expression system if that helps...
Janson
sometimes you apparently wax pickups to avoid them from internally resonating and making them sound crap, or something.did he leave the guitar near a hot radiator or in the sun or near anything warm enough to melt it?not sure, just a thought. Davey
Why pie?Pie? What are you on about, no one mentioned pie? I'm confused!Yeah, waxing pickups is a common practice, don't know a fantastic ammount about the internals of pickups but I've never heard of them using gel in them They're basically just electro magnets, can't imagine there being much more than just some rods and coils in there!Davey
Hendrix
I've been playing my beast for 9 years, and have currently passed my 8 Rockschool. I've been around the block see, but never heard of a guitar leaking! BUT, hey, I can't of seen everything, so I'm probably wrong. Krisboats
Maybe someone keeps putting it on there, brother, sister etc.Go downstairs explain and see who starts laughing first, thats probably your culprit.Either that or maybe your guitars a bit sad and felt like crying. TomR
Humbuckers usually get wax dipped to avoid noise, but its only a small amount. Has he taken the pickup out and looked? Does the goop smell of anything?
ScotchDave
It's not a wax, look at the taylor site, it tells you that the pickups have gel inside them...
