Blommah
As i`m putting my new Gu 26" together, i found that i couldnt use my monty pads.I had to swith to my green magurapads, as the montypads are wider, so that my hs33 keeps touching my crankarms when they spin, the brake goes too far out.A common problem with trialsframes nowadays?Advice? I guess i have to live with it, or just cut the pads, but i rather wouldnt. Edited January 31, 2007 by Blommah

Blommah
I thought of that, but on the other hand, dont it affect the chainline?
Lawnmowerman
Better to have a slightly bent chainline than your crank hitting your brake.

abtrials
or you could get a thiner rear rim, or swap your cranks for some 5mm smaller
GTF
I thought of that, but on the other hand, dont it affect the chainline? You can change the position of the cog?
Lawnmowerman
Or if you really have to you can take your pedal off, put a long pole over the crank and bend the arm outwards slightly. It's not very professional but it does work.
Blommah
You can change the position of the cog?Well the tensioner is homemade so it really dont adjust that well, ill stick with the smaller pads .
darrenhopper
Give the new pads to a mate who runs a grind for a couple of sessions? They'll probably fit just fine if you leave them long enough & somebody gets to knock a bit of use out of them... Gots to be better than cutting them down, getting an un-even surface & you'll always resent the fact that you lost out on those 2 mm of material when it's time for new pads. Greetings
I had to grind down my cranks, magura caliper, brake pads and get a narrower rim. Setup is an A1 with 128mm bb, Tensiles and Coustsinks. What's the widest 68mm shell bb one can get?
James Quigley
I had this problem with my GU, with a 127.5mm BB.I solved it by buying new cranks. My middleburn 175's hit the cylinderMy new Try All 175's miss by at least 1 mile.Problem solved
