sUm
Could the chain be catching on your bashguard? Also try double-checking your chainline while backpedalling.
Trials Dave
yer, i only have a bashring and the chain looked pretty close to it so i took a file round the edge to get rid of the rough edges on it incase they were catching on it. Lawnmowerman
Change your front cog.
Dan6061
Change your front cog.As he said.Chains, cogs, and sprockets all wear evenly.Really, you should replace them all at the same time when they wear out, as replacing say, just the chain, and leaving the cogs etc, then the chain will just wear down so it'll run with everything else.If you replace them all at the same time, it'll last much longer.Even though it means breaking the bank some more. Ghetto Rider
Hi,I had this problem! It was because the quick fit link was rubbing the chain tensioner and was trying to change gear, i simply had to turn the chain over and it was fine....You should be able to back pedel sat by your bike and see where it rubs...?Dan

I agree its a mismatch of pitches between the old sprockets and the fresh new chain. Out of pitch means it'll skip or run through under load.Theres no need to replace all at once though. You should be able to get about 3 chains per sprocket set, just replace them at regular intervals (before they wear too much and then you're up for a new set). Either get a chain wear indicator tool or take your bike into your LBS and they'll measure it for you. Generally they'll do this for nothing since its potentially a purchase of a new chain. Generally they'll do this for nothing since its potentially a purchase of a new chain. My Dad knows how to avoid this, because he rides XC, he says to start with a new set of sprockets and THREE new chains, once the chain gets worn slightly, put on a new one, then run that one the same, and the next. Then put the origenal one back on. You should be able to run all three chains three times, in the end you are left with a complete set of knackered stuff, but no chain suck, ghost shifting or anything. AND he could get a good couple of thousand miles out of the set, then he would just buy new all new kit and start again. It worked for him but I don't know about trials bikes, I tend to get about 2weeks riding before something goes wrong and it needs new bits.
