F-Stop Junkie
Right, I need a new bash ring to fit four bolt cranks. Something nice and small. Suggestions?
Walleee
DMR ring thing, oldschool ***.
Ali C
try and find a filthy ard guard, they were easily the best!
F-Stop Junkie
The Filthy ones were never made in four bolt though I think... I think the choice is either the DMR - old school indeed! - or the Blackspire granny god, and even that's on the chunky side.Anyone used the Truvativ one? Elliot
Anyone used the Truvativ one?Yep, seems ok, though it gets scratched and gouged alot easier than my mates (an old echo I think) and its only 6mm wide. That said I got it new for £16 on ebay so I cant really complain. but apart from how well it takes abuse and how light it is, what is there really to pick between bashrings? F-Stop Junkie
but apart from how well it takes abuse and how light it is, what is there really to pick between bashrings?Diameter - some cover 28t, other just 22t. Durability, do they resist bending or wear quickly? Looks. The Filthy 'Ard Guard was the perfect bashring, but never available in four bolt I believe. I'm trying to run Saint cranks, so I can't use a super tiny splined number, but then realistically I don't need the absolute maximum chainring clearance, and the increase in chain ring size with help reduce wear and decrease the chance of breaking a chain. Jamie_Neal
I've just got myself a set of Saint cranks and I can recommend a Blackspire bash guard - it looks lovely. They even fit on an '04 Control which I was surprised at.
2sixstreet
Have been running a Suntour (very similar to Truvativ) 4 bolt for a while and it holds up really well - especially since i'm not very good at trials and land on it heaps. Beauty of it is that if it gets mushed just rotate it 180° and get more life out of it.
