BONGO
I use Utorrent as a torrent client. Does anyone know how to adjust the settings to stop uploads from my computer. I've never been a fan of uploads, on kazaa, limewire or this, so wanna stop it lol. There is nothing really clear in the settings indicating that it might do this, so i'm not sure how to.Bongus. However the speed you download at for the most part is directly proportional to the speed you upload at. Meaning, to make it fair for everyone torrent clients have a ratio/quota you have to meet before your download will run at its fastest.. this might not always be the case but from what i have found it pretty much is. So basically lowerin your upload speed will hinder your download speed. If you go to options at the top and then speed guide, set your connection in there and it iwll automatically adjust the speed you upload at. Its just basivally a system to ensure that people dont download stuff and are then not willing to share it out. Although i just move the file to a new folder anyway so utorrent doesnt know it exists on my pc.
MadChikken
Get a decent program like BitLord or Azureus? They both allow you to set the upload and download limit per torrent. I have used Azureus before and its great, a little resource-intensive though so swapped to BitLord about a year ago and have never had a single problem with it!As for the upload/download proportion limit, with 90% of trackers thats rubbish. It used to be the case but now certainly for most trackers (mininova, thepiratebay) you can download at max speed with your upload set as low as 4 or 5 kbps.Gimme a shout if u need help setting it up M@
Fixed Pants™
Added you on MSN Matt, i need to know how to get faster downloads on BitComet, it's really annoying 'cos it's like 20kb/s.EDIT: It's going at 120kbps! So it does pay to tinker with things...My settings for other people that want fast downloads:1 MB internetMax download: No LimitMax upload: 100Port: have it between 50000 and 55000 Edited January 14, 2007 by Fat Pants
Guest
the whole point is that you share, if your not uploading, your not sharing. Don't upload at your full speed, you need to leave a few kb to allow yourself to send out request's to find new sources.seriously, don't block uploads all together, that's gay.
