munkee
Well ive been on tiscali 8mb broadband since septemeber.. and due to a fat housemate with a very worrying addiction to downloading child cartoons such as tale spin, he-man and the borrowers we have been moved on to shared usage (since november). Its wank as f**k because between 6pm and about 1am nothing works.. literally this took me 8 refreshes to get here. Msn is disconnected every 30 seconds and its just wank service. Many other people seem to be finding the same: http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=215So its time to move on to the greener pastures. Anyone with a good broadband service that is unlimited? cant be doing with usage allowances due to the fat willy as i mentioned above. Fixed Pants™
AOL, may be shit, expensive and slow, but I've never really had a problem apart from when my line broke, i tried replacing every wire and it still didn't work, got in touch with Netgear (absolutely f**king useless, foreign, can't speak English properly and took about an hour to reply to anything) Then i got in contact with AOL and they fixed the line within 48 hours.I'm on AOL silver and it's decent, only 1MB but it does me fine.Best thing is it's unlimited . Janson
block the port his torrent program is using?or fill his computer with child porn and call the cops. i dunno.capped broadband sucks. i have a 15gb a day cap, which is pretty decent. and if i don't use it all i get to save it, and can at most have 60gb of allowed bandwidth. means i cant get on all the good 100mbit dc++ hubs though, which sucks. (i'm on 100/100 btw )but then again i don't live in england which is ages behind in broadband tech.

Janson
isn't there a "block all ports except xx xx xxxxx xxxx" function on your router? so you only allow ports for msn, internet browsers, etc? or maybe some kind of bandwitdh limiter software you can run on his ass. i dunno. i am stumped. munkee
Yea its the whole reason why i had to go with tiscali, 3 of us using the same line. Fatboy on torrents 24/7 (now 24/7 except 6-11pm since i told him we'd get thrown off tiscali otherwise.. but we have anyway so its shit internet between those hours anyway)Poland guy watched polish news and downloads the odd series, which i dont mind since i watch them tooI do f**k all.. the odd album, bit of CS if im bored.. but hardly ever have time due to taking a real degree unlike most people. AOL have introduced a fair user policy during peak hours same as tiscali. It WAS unlimited I say try out fast4... if thir shit, least you'll know and i can avoid them Funny thing is though, my internet is super fast and msn stays online all the time (no more midnight disconnects ), plus downloads are actually running a bit faster than they should be. 2mb line and downloading at 350kb/s not bad at all.Now i don't have to worry about leaving things downloading in the evenings now as well T-f sometimes gays up though and takes like 6 seconds to load, but i'm just gonna blame the t-f server on that one

It was this v21 company that was in the shit and subsequently f***** its members. However, fast4 have split from them in november 2006 and are now their own company with different lines.Dunno how they are doing now then... go on.... try em out
