ytr_rich
Well i'm looking to buy a front disc brake but not really 100% sure on what one to get could you please tell me pro's and con's about them?also what front disc hub do you use i'm looking at the echo or hope xc.rich
PaRtZ
You cant go wrong with either of those hubs really. Before the new echo hub came out, pretty much everyone was using the hope xc of the hope monoAs for discs I suggest the BB7. Its powerful enough, very simple to set up and tweak. Probably not as strong as a hope mono trial (hydraulic) but the amount of arsing around with hydraulics just isn't worth it imo, especially if something goes wrong. Egg Fried Rice
hope mono trial 07 for hydraulicsgot mine the other day and its feels so nice, good lock and amazing hold also the lever feels great.but if you want to run cable definitley BB7, alot of top riders use BB7's and so do many other people.JK Edited January 7, 2007 by J-KAY
Adamant A1 rider
aright rich, I run an avid juicy 7 and I love it, good bite and good modulation. I would say the only down side would be the rotor is easily damaged. I also use a hope pro 2 hub no problems yet, fingers crossed !!!. Dan6061
When will you people learn...Avid BB7.Easiest brakes to set-up. No bleeding needed at all, cables are strong enough, spares are availible in any bike shop (Cables, Levers, maybe even pads..)Feels just as nice/nicer than any hydro', and equally as powerful.Cheaper too. shansen
Hi mate, i put a hope mono M4 on mine... just because i had it lying around , so yeah don't go for that because it doesn't work its for downhill, I'm going for the Avid BB7. And i would go for the hope XC hub or pro 2Thanks Seb Edited January 7, 2007 by shansen
(chief)
wel if you want a hydrolic one i would recomend a hope mono trial.and if you are wanting a cable disc deffinatly get a avid bb7 there so good.chris
Alastair
Avid BB7 anyday, the bite may be better on the Hydraulics in the short term, but from personal experiance i would reccomend the BB7, due it being a lot cheaper, and has a better life expectancy and you wont be faffing around with re-bleeds. Go for the Pro 2, its just £8 more than the XC, and its 21grams lighter, but im not sure if you would notice that much weight differance. I think they look better aswell personally.Hope Pro 2Al Edited January 7, 2007 by Alastair
