Tomm
They'll be off an old school motorbike I think. Shimano didn't invent the v-brake you know - They just brought it to bicycles. I remember seeing a picture of a very old (probably 1920s ish?) motorbike with those kind of brakes on.

skuzzbucket
its an old skool brake from the early 40s was fitted to army bikes if my memory is correct, have only seen 2 before. where you find it?
Dan6061
I'm guessing there's a spring or something in that 'block' at the top, and as you pill the lever, some magic shiz happens inside, which pushes the arms?Any way of taking it apart? Concussion
What about if the pivots where lowered, could work like a hydro-u brake => I'm trying to think of something to combine hydro power with the simplicity of a V set-up, h`mmm? future orange 660
wouldnt that be two oppising pistons though?im probably wrong though.the pistons would need to move along way but more leverage so could be better.it just complicates things though i think with the pivot as opposed to a single movemnet of piston pushing pad onto rim. Concussion
wouldnt that be two oppising pistons though? Why would that be a problem... for future reference?Saw that pic/patient someone posted of the workings of a maggie piston... I'll be buggerd if I can properly understand how it works. Wish I could though... THEN I'd get my thinking cap on.
Greetings
Liking what Concussion has come up with. That could be really powerful providing the piston has the right diameter. Another advantage is that the bolts for mounting such a brake would be much higher from V-mounts allowing for less flex of the frame/forks. Liking the Coustsink brake pads, or are they Wright Pads? The pad material looks a bit black.
Simon
'm trying to think of something to combine hydro power with the simplicity of a V set-up, h`mmm?Star Brakes. Atleast, Star made them. Also, there is a patent out for these by Magura. Found it when looking for the patents for the new brake.
Concussion
Star Brakes. Atleast, Star made them. Also, there is a patent out for these by Magura. Found it when looking for the patents for the new brake. Do you have a link or any pics? I can't find anything!....Magura have a patent for what? I saw the diagrams you/or somebody posted, but you said `these` when no maggie designs are mentioned in this thread? What exactly have Magura patented... the use of a hydro rim brake or the intricate design of their specific design? I'm a bit confused here.... hydraulics is hydraulics no? Just looking for a bit of room to maneuver!
