As much as needed...

Put the whole thing on without shims, but leave the caliper loose [really loose]. Press the lever pretty hard so the caliper centers on the disk, then take a look at how much spacers you should put, then once you put them in, double check by making sure the caliper is in the middle of the disk.

PLEASE can someone help me,quick thanks.

My biggest probllem is i have got 1 of the thin shims at the top and one at the bottom but my pads are constantly rubbing on the disc,i have not even been out and tried the disc yet,any good advice would be much appreciated.
