RobinJI
Hey, I'm currently running a 65mm by 10deg stem and an Easton EA30 "High-rise" bar, but Eastons idea of high rise is rather different to most (My high-rise bars have 2" of rise from the center of the stem clamp to the center of the bars end).Anyway, I know a lot of people like the Azonics, but which in there range is best? all the different versions that appear the same externally confuse me :$ Also if there are any other bars out there with an equally high rise to them? and at least 27" wide? I love the feel of more conventional bars (hence the Eastons) so no super silly sloppy trialsy bars please, but equally no megga flat angled BMXy 24seven Suicide bar/DMR wing bar type things. streetjibs
sounds like ur chasin azonic double wall riser bars (imo 2.5 inch rise seems to suit most streety trials setups best)watch them for creakin though. . cuz wen they go it aint no fun. Iv done 2 bars in a year! but i stil use them cuz i think they feel "right" and if u replace them wen they start creakin should be ok.. (o ye - forget warranties lol!)they're wide too and very nicely shaped.avoid the singlewall ones at all cost these r poo!!very popular bars of streetier style riders... such as Akrigg, infamous Ed Tongue and a lot of the 24 guys use em.hope that helps dude
abtrials
um azonc bars to go for ar just normal double wall ones with whatever rise you want 2" is streety.i also think that the bt risers look streety aswell, but they only come in anodised red???other than that i dont know matehope this helps
26inch
Azonic double walls do feel mint. Mine are only about a month old but hopefully wont have any creaky problems. Id go for them, 2inch rise is quite alot by the way, especialy for the market eastern are aiming at.
CurtisRider
2.5inch rise azonic double walls= most perfect shaped bars ever, and ive not had any snap on me yet:) apparently the singlewalls are stronger...but others say they arent, i dunno as for the creaking thing, apparently thats the inner wall cracking, so you are just relying on the outer wall...whcih makes sense i guessanyway, they feel awsome on my zoot, and i ran them on my other bikes too which no toubles
streetjibs
the single walls are definately NOT stronger.. get dbl walls. Iv actually seen a pair of single walls snap within 30mins of buyin em!!! As for snapping double walls like i said earlier iv done 2 this year... they both were creaking.. so probly only running on the outer wall thats y i now replace them wen i hear constant creaking. Both of the bars i broke this year were double walls and both snapped on the up motion of a bunnyhop. but like iv said they feel right and are bloody nice bars... just keep an eye on em.get em
guineasmithpig
errrrrm, in my opinion (and the importers) and my experience, the SWs have been better for trials. The theory is that the DW bars have the two walls to help reduce fatigue due to vibrations in DH racing and such. in trials, the force on the bar tends to come in big lumps causing a big flex. here, the walls reach the point where they bind in places, causing stress rises and the bar goes snap. i had 3 sets of DWs replace under warranty, and when the last set went, i consulted the importers who then replaced them with a set of SWs (also labelled up with the WF (world force) logos on newer bars for some strange reason, even they don't know why because the World force is a different bar!). also, the SWs are shot peened, rather than gloss finish as with DWs, which helps disperse skin stresses better. not a massive thing, but every little helpsanyways, no creaking, no breakages after 18months use, during which i started doing bigger moves to front wheel, though eliminated big drops to flat from my riding. They DWs on my 4X bike have started creaking now, though they are a bit old, so gonna ring up and see if they can be replaced before snapping. Azonic importers have been really good with warranty stuff, especially snapped bars, so gonna give it a whirlto some up, i personally now would use SWs over DWs due to experience, and what seems like a bit of engineering logicSmithy Edited January 5, 2007 by guineasmithpig

RobinJI
montyI'm after something with more than 2" rise? Are the Montys anywhere near that? The thing about the Eastons that makes them seem low for a 'high-rise' bar is that the rise is measured from the bar clamp to the end of the bar, when some companies who say a bar is 2" rise mean from the bar clamp to the start of the grip area. Anyway, there a lot lower than my old 24sevens that were meant to me 2" rise. The Azonics do seem the best option so far so, anymore opinions on which ones to go for?Edit: just read '10 degree backsweep with 11 degree upsweep.' about the Montys, and that's a bit too slopy for me really. Davetrials
arnt monty bars like 2.5?
RobinJI
Well either way it would mean a new stem and me not likeing the sweep. So there kinda out of the question.Looks like the azonics are pirfect really, just need to know which ones to buy. So far some have said singlewall, some have said double wall. I'm just as confused as before haha.
streetjibs
to further the argument for dw over sw azonics ... what his sayin makes sense... and i can understand why it seems they would be stronger, however in my humble opinion i would never use SWsIv seen them snap within 30minutes of buying them. I also now remember seeing a set snap while landing (mostly bars snap onthe up motion). And lastly you gotta consider pro riders who use azonics... all the ones iv seen (ed tongue, akkers, even the old skool petr kraus all used and use DWs)but hey if it turns out im wrong and the SWs are sweet.. i might change too lolol and they're cheaper!!confusion continues... :$
