dan the trials man
Hi allI got my new KHE chain today and my chain tool but my chain seems to be either to loose or to tight, i put a link on because it is to tight then it is far to loose take a link off and it is to tight again.I use a chain tensioner but i cant get it right, any advise on a new chain tensioner.ThanksDanI think it would be fine with out one if i could get a half link. Fish-Finger-er
wat tensioner do you use?? if its fresh products take a look at my topic n faq. otherwise, you got a few options.if your tensioning up, tension down instead, and vice versa. if your using a nylon tensioning wheel with bearings in it, go and get yourself a skateboard wheel, and make the groove in it for the chain to sit in, but make the bit where the chain sits a bigger diameter than the orignal(should be clear, that your not cutting the bit where the chain sits down to the same size as the orignal. then fit it, will give you that extra bit of tension. dan the trials man
Its is a forge tensioner it has a wheel that the chain sits in, not the ones with teeth. ThanksDan

ThanksDanyea, if you cant solve it by tensioning the other way(down not up etc) and extending the tensioning slot isnt wise. then just cut urself a new wheel out of a skateboard/microscooter wheel. TomR
Get a half link? I keep getting told that. I should probably start looking in some BMX shops.
RobinJI
Half-links for KHEs are hard to find I think. You could use either a locked out mech or a Rohloff tensioner. As the 2 wheeled design takes out a lot more slack than the single wheel of most chain tensioners.Otherwise, you could try using different gearing, good chance to try out some new gear ratios unless you're certain about yours. If you have the money, a Rohloff would be your best bet, there awesome and will last you forever solving all your tensioning worries. dan the trials man
I'm thinking about the gear ratio idea, i have made a topic would be great if some of you could reply.ThanksDan
NirZionTrials
I'm thinking about the gear ratio idea, i have made a topic would be great if some of you could reply.ThanksDandont change the ratio because of that.eather get a power link or a golden link... i think its what everyone calls a half link, its an easy link to connect the chain, so you dont have to use a chain tool.or do what i did, i road with a looser chain(looser then i wanted) for a week(you can try two) until the chain streches(every chain streches out) then i took one link off and it was tight.give it a shot, youll be suprised. Bruce
If you want a half-link chain Tarty sell them, just not on the website. Give them a ring. Got myself on and it works a treat! Looks damn sexy too! You should be able to get a good tension with one of those. I can just about run mine without the tensioner, but i use the tensioner anyway, just to keep it all nice and tight. dan the trials man
I don't want a half link chain, i have a new khe one. I think i will try the stretch it a bit idea on e problem though know the chain rubs on my bash guard you know the one that protects the chain ring, i think the chain is to wide. Is there a way round this eg using washers or something ?ThanksDan
Mark W
My Collapse didn't really stretch at all. What you could try doing is scoping out on here who runs a half-link chain, and then asking for a spare link off them. I had to do that for my BMX, so I'm running a regular KMC510HX chain, but with a single Shadow Conspiracy Interlock V2 half-link, and it's worked out fine They're beefy links too, so it'd fit your Collapse nicely. One word of warning, keep that chain lubed, otherwise it'll f**k up mightily. Broomer
A friend is running a KMC chain im not sure which model but he had chain tension problems so he has fitted a half link into the chain to get good tension. Mark W
If it's a regular KMC Kool and not a thin, it'll be fine. Assuming the other one's a KHE Collapse, that'll be fine with a regular BMX half-link too.
dan the trials man
Great now i need to find some one on here with one, i want to put my khe one on but it is to thick for my middle burn would some washers do the job.ThanksDan
