I used to train kickboxing for some time, than I moved to bike trials. And now I think that I will back to kickboxing too (martial arts are better than gym I think)

listen to this guy, for trials training, stuff like kickboxing, will produce the more explosive power needed, if your into lifting weights but wanna use it to improve trials, look at plyometrics, and just generally explosive moves, without looking to increase lean muscle mass significantly.

on the other hand, i lift weights, dont do plyometrics, and ride trials, but then i do weights, because i wanna be big, not good at trials.

Weight lifting :)

Also some other stuff, i go running, swimming, and stuff to help my legs like weights again :) (for sidehops).

gotta make sure your doing it right, otherwise you aint gettin the benefit for sidehops etc. if your doing low controlled, slow squats, its probably not helping, and may well be stunting your progress, in one of the old TRA vids, theres a bit where hes doing explosive squats, squatting super fast with a low, and actually leaping clear of the floor on the way up, this is the kinda stuff u need to do to improve ur vertical side hops etc.although youll look a tit doin this surrounded by a bunch of roid raiders.

training programs like air alert, used to be all the rage when i was playing basketball, for increasing vertical, although tailored for basketball, its all down to explosive leg power, and would imagine it would be quite beneficial in this too

Oh and i just recently broke my wrist quite bad, right through the growth plate unfortunately so my hand will possibly grow all queer...

Lately been focusing on getting my wrist stronger, probably been overdoing it it's still hurting :(

The thing that i'm puzzled about is that my wrist isn't hurting on the break where it broke, but on the joint

Thanks, Josh.

I broke my wrist on the growth plate also, last year in april and it meant that i could not do much with that hand for ages because it was so weak and hurt like hell and i could not twist my wrist all the way round, but the doctor said it should stop after about a year and like you said that my hand could grow all dodgy

I have noticed a significant increase in performance on my bike by using the rowing machine regularly. The machine uses the same muscle groups when you pull up on your handlebars. My sidehops have become higher and my gaps further.

The rowing machine increases strength and hardly any muscle compared to doing weights.

Doing weights for long periods of time will only slow you down and make you less flexible and flexibility is important in trials.

Hope this has helped,

Lewis

Yeh thats what worried me, the fact that it could grow all deformed. Did you ride your bike after your cast was off? Cos i have been and with cast on a little, although it was hurting, just couldn't help it, although i think it's probably damaged the growth thingy more so i will have a wierd hand  And yes mine still hurst like helll, does it really take a year for it to heal?!

thats due to the joint not being moved due to the injury, whether its due to its movement been restricted by the cast, or you simply not using its full range of movement due to it hurting, the joint wil start to "freeze". personally id either consult a physio,or at least a doctor, theyll normally hold your wrist firmly in its socket or the like for a couple of minutes each time(this will hurt like hell) you go there, and give u a list of exercises to do, to build strenght and aid full range of movement in the wrist once more.

Been to doc after i got cast off, he says you don't need to come for physio and that i have to do it myself apparently. Anyway i have noticed a dramatic increase in strength and flexibility of my wrist since the 2 or so weeks i've had my cast off so can only be getting better, although when i look at one wrist it looks different to the other
