taylor1991
I know this will sound very basic to most riders on this forum but ive only been riding for a week now and cant seem to hop forwards. I can get on the backwheel, sidehop or hop backwards but just cant seem to position myself to hop forwards. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Sam
Captain Scarlet
Aren't you refering to a pedal hop?Unless you are really strong there is no way of hopping forwards whilst on your back wheel without using the pedals (at least not very far).A pedal hop does basically what it says on the tin.when you are balanced on your back wheel, release your back brake give the pedals a quick kick then hop and lock on the back brake. Razzy
The pedal hop involves three main elements: 1.) Leaning your weight back over the rear wheel,2.) Letting off the rear brake, and 3.) Giving a short 1/8 to 1/4 turn of the pedals, then bringing your pedals back to level. All three of these movements are basically done at the same time. When practicing this move, focus on remaining in control at all times; don't exaggerate any of the moves. After doing the move you should be in the same balancing position you were in at the beginning.

Concussion
cant seem to position myself to hop forwards.Just try leaning forward a bit, ie: lower the front end by extending your arms, ready to pull on the bars when you release the brake and kick! Just do tiny ones to start with till you feel comfortable with it.
