grantham Posted January 1, 2007 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 you can use the proper setting tool, but i did one yesterday without. As you said do it with the bolt screwed in then just take your time keep tapping it in slowly, straighten it if it goes on an angle at all, once you have got the bottom layer in the top one should go in fairly easily.I then take the bolt out and put the stem cap on an hammer it in flush to that.I think the key is just taking your time. magluke Posted January 1, 2007 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 Hi well to start do what you are doing naw, but you no it doesnt seem like it is going in straight but it is if you hit it a bit more the other side should straighten out .It needs to be about a inch down the tube. flas12345 Posted January 1, 2007 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 aup matethere is a proper tool to do this with but i had to re-new my star nut once and all i did was make sure it was straight with the forks and i got a piece of copper pipe and a rubber mallet and all i did was tap it down with the mallet and copper pipe and it worked a treathope i have helped.
