Tomm
Can anyone recommend some decent metal albums I should listen to? I've got a need for some decent metal and my collection is lacking. I've got Appetite for Destruction (+ other G'n'R albums) and Black Sabbath's Paranoid album, but I want others like those. Nice riffage + bad hair is the order of the day please.Thanks.

So I'm none the wiser really.scremy just usually comes with the metal genre anymore more idea to what your looking for? GnR arnt really a metal band, id just call them "rock and roll" really get a copy of the film "Metal: A Head Bangers Journey"It shows metal throughout its history showing bands from each sub catagory so youll probably be more understanding of what your looking for possibly?*NOTE FOR ANGRY THREAD: its too damm early!*
Tomm
GnR always were metal though, it's just that the name has been taken over by other people now. Whatever. I want other suggestions that are similar to GnR, Black Sabbath. Just to avoid confusion, no one is allowed to post anything less than 15 years old. endofreak
Metallica - Garage IncGreat wee album. All the songs are covers so you get a good bit of variety and there are a few classics on there.Iron Maiden - Best Of The BeastGood starting point. You get all the greatest tracks in one case.Roadrunner United - The All Star SessionsThere are a few screamy tracks on here but it's worth a listen to. The idea behind the album is just too good to miss. The record label Roadrunner got some of their greatest bands together, mixed up the members and then sent them off to write and record some tracks. Brian Bleech
GnR always were metal though, it's just that the name has been taken over by other people now. Whatever. I want other suggestions that are similar to GnR, Black Sabbath. Just to avoid confusion, no one is allowed to post anything less than 15 years old.Sabbath are metal and GnR are kinda metal... more hard rock. Anyhow try these bands, not all are 'metal' as such, but you should like them and some of them are under 15 years old .. Early Aerosmith - 'Gems' album is a good place to start.Vain - No RespectMotley Crue - Shout at the Devil and Too Fast For LoveMetallica - Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning......gootta go will post more laterpm me dude.EDIT: check out viking skull toodeep purple - machine headnazereththe workhorse movementcan't go wrong with a bit of ac/dcIron maidenJudas PriestWhitesnakenot 'metal' as such but either GnR or sabbath were influenced by or were an influence on most of these bands. trials_pimp
You say you want metal, then you ask for Guns and roses. They arent metal, definatly be todays standards of metal.Basicly you want peoeple to go and have a look through their dads old music colection for old rock music.Metal by todays standards has so many sub catagories now, like Dance, House, garage ect.You got to take into account:MetalHardcoreScreamoEmoNu-metalGothThrash ectand all sorts of other sub genres in the area of metal.
