mat hudson
wouldnt it be really cool if you could, say raise your bb or lower it by changing a part on your bike(not forks i mean effective bb height) and those mongoose bikes used to have adjustable headangle, thats a fairly nifty idea, most full sussers have bb height adjusting features, why not something like that on a trials bike, i know strength and weight are both issues but surely they can be overcome?i was looking at something like thisVVV, if the axle was pushed say another 10mm further down the geometry of the bike would be changed, sure better parts can be made. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ost&id=8894dont all go nuts if this sounds really stupid, just an idea for discussion really. Todge
Its a reasonable idea. Theres no reason why variable geometry can't be used, and incorporated into the design of the frame. Its happening in other disciplines of the mtb world - check this! and theres a commencial frame that has an adjustable headangle (probs loads more examples, just these two come straight to mind). Onza Kieron
You didnt ask me for copyright laws when using my bike in a pic also, you had realised that the picture just hasnt been rotated... But i'm sure if you thought long and hard you could come up with a solution.
Fishy
With Fatmikes bike, you can slightly change the cs, wb and bb height. Not much i don't think, but it seems a good way of keeping your wheel in tight. I'm sure fatmike will correct me.
Dan6061
Thing is, you'd be very limited to what you could change.. surely?Like changing the wheelbase a few mm, and the BB height too.Is it really worth it?

CurtisRider
Has that pic got a disc adapter to the frame??Jack no its a sliding dropout in the frame, so that the disc calliper moves with the axle, rather than being fixed on the framethis basically means when going singlespeed, you can tension the chain without having the calliper only take on half the rotor/hitting into the rotor
Matthew_Gibson
But does than one degree or so really change the way the bike rides? How could you make a frame have changeable bb rise? Supose you could have sumat like a Gu frame had. (or maybe not!)The chainstay thing is doable, but headangle. On a trials bike. How would you do it and still keep the strenght? ollie2000
i wanna see a frame where the bb is higher than the back wheel

PaRtZ
^^^top part of the chain is still thereand its been derailed but never mind very funny all the samemat i think its a silly idea lol. The amount of stress frames have to take nowadays is crazy. Maybe if you're a smooth street rider (not a street trials rider) you could get away but when youre doing stupid gap drops its just gna break. And you really do want something that aint gonna break lolzorz
Greetings
[attachmentid=9115] Might have got a bit carried away this time. But this is just an example of supreme variable geometry, once you get on it everything will bend and adapt to the rider - just like in comp bikes. RobinJI
Scott Octanes/High octanes had/have a variable headtube angle without effecting the rest of the geometry. Its pretty simple really. They have a clamping head tube in which an insert sits, the insert it larger than a standard headtube, and has a whole board through it at an angle that the headset fits in.So if the Head tube is rotated in its mounts 180 deg the head angle is varied a few degrees.Cant find a clear picture right now.
