Games To Play Before You Die

I'm an avid fan of Flight Simulators, basically it annoys me when people go on about the 'Graphic exellence' of games like CounterStrike, and they always tend to be the first ones to slate FS games and call them 'shit and boring'.

So, Flight Simulator X has eaten 15GB of my hard drive, and I can say its well worth it. The detail in this game is unbelievable, so much so that it will refuse to run on even some 'moderate' systems'. Thus having to have a top of the range everything to gain the full benefits of it. Its about £60 for the Delux version (£40 for standard, in delux you get more detail, more airports and more planes).

Multiplayer allows you to take air traffic control and guide other players when flying, be the main pilot or act as co-pilot.

Planes include everything from hand gliders, jets (as downloadable add-ons with membership to simflight.com), Airbus, boings, gliders, helicopters and pretty much anything else you can think of. Most will cast this one out saying they played on FS98 or whatever, but seriously, dont knock this game until you have tried it.

Although if you want something a little more 'action packed' to get you going, try Combat Flight Simulator.

(oh, and by the way, if you've never tried it before, FSX is a good place for first impressions, but not the best if you've never learnt to fly on them. They have tutorials, but personally I think they lag a bit for the absolute beginner).

(and also, invest in a TOP of the range joystick, with as many gadgets as possible!)

And so, the point of this topic...what games do you recommend :) (try and include SOME detail so it doesn't turn into one big, pointless list.)

Mircomachines 2 Turbo Tourament 98 - quite possible the greatest multiplayer game ever.

8 players,

4 controllers (2 of them plug into the cartridge :o )

2 people (1 team) per controller

...just so much fun!

and if you can beat 15.98 seconds for a lap of basement bumps, i may have to kill you!

I'll agree with Guitar Hero, even people who play guitar can strugle, and it's a great laugh, I've not played number two, but heard you can use two guitars and dual, like on dance matts?

Best 'arcade' game in recent times, so much fun when you find out you aced a song, and your mates have to try and beat it.

No games you really should play before you die, however, do not, under any circumstancs, think that Ship Simulator 2006 will be a good game. Shit graphics, shit noises, dull and frustrating gameplay, no fast forward mode on trans-atlantic ships, wank contols, and quite frankly, shit overall.

Hmm, Half-life is a must for any gamer. Its an oldie but damn its so good!!

In my flat at the moment we have Burnout Revenge keeping us entertained on the multiplayer front, get a load of beers in and 4 people on that and its loads of fun.

Timesplitters series is also worth a look, single player and multi player are both pretty entertaining. Some of the challenges are hilarious, especially the duck hunting ones where you have to kill 100 ducks in a stupidly short amount of time.

I always used to be a kid for games, but one problem i have is that i get bored of them really really quickly. Actually this is so bad its got to the point where i will give up on a game through boredom before i have really gotten in to it. For instance the need for speed series, played them all via pc and i have to say after a day of playing i lose the love. However .. there is one game which has actually kept my attention and i am officially addicted to.

Counterstrike source: im not going to go off on one about the graphics since until i got my new pc i have been playing it on a laptop for 3 years so i can safely say its not the eye candy that keeps me coming back. Its blatantly the gameplay. Being able to shout at german people on a server as you headshot half their team in to oblivion aghhh i love it. For the most part i think people play proper shite, with scores breaking even or just above. But there is always that one day you go on and play where you absalutely destroy everything in sight.. i think its those days that make me come back to the game.. not knowing when you are going to go on a mass culling spree. If anyones thinking of getting a minto multiplayer game id go for source.

Dont bother with 1.6 btw.. its a bag of wank stain after playing source, rag doll effects as seen in hitman series is one of the greatest things to ever be put in to games. As well as being able to hear the thud of a bullet hitting someone in the head.. kind of like dropping an egg. Oh lord i love that sound... they say violence doesnt stem from games but give me a m16 and some dirty lil arab f**kers running around a building that looks like cs_office and ill kill for free.

To reach the full potential of the game you will need a better than average graphics card and a decent broadband connection although to be honest i have seen some hideous setups been run and the game runs pretty good.
