basher
I cant find a decent video editing software that will support the clips that come off my camera. The file type it needs to support is MOD file, and it would be nice to be able to just download it aswell. Any surgestions apprectiated. CBProductions
yeah i did get a cd but the software you get with it isnt really all that good its rather simple. And the files arnt supported in movie maker and few other thing i have.Use the supplied software to convert the clips into uncompressed .avi then whack it into movie maker or a demo of vegas or ulead and see how you get on with that. I sometimes prefer some of the older video editors for simplicity Craig

joe b
Try and find an encoder which will convert the '.MOD' files into more universal format's such as '.mpeg/.mpg', '.avi' or any format accepted by your video editing software. You could try posting this topic in the 'Videos' section, you might find more people may be able to help you there .Cheers,Joe. aener
I know what you mean matey!Just got my JVC Everio GZ-MG21.The files are .MODs, and the software that comes with it is SHOCKING!It doesn't even harbour the technology for putting clips in slowmo!I'm looking for one aswell - does Premiere work with MODs?If not I'll go scouting for a free file converter program and post a link on here for you if I find one. aener
Ok - I've just been playing around with it, and I've found a way. It's a bit more hassle - but atleast you can use the camera this way...In the supplied software:Put all the clips you want to use into a single project,Produce the movie,Instead of selecting the bottom right box like they say to - use the bottom left - called "Streaming" (this is in the window that pops up when you click "Produce")In the boxes at the top on the window after that one, click WMV, or whichever one you want to use,Then, on the drop down box in the window after, scroll right down untill it says something like "Highest Quality for BroadBand..." Either way - it's the very bottom one. This will produce a (in my case) WMV file, rather than a MOD.Then you're free to use it in any other software you want. I use Windows Media Maker (it's free, and not illegal , and you CAN do good editing in it - if you're patient)Only problem is, now you've gotta comb through the big reel of video, seperating out each clip from another.Like I say - it's a bit of an arse, but atleast you get to use the lovely new camera Which one did you get? They're so awesome in my view - the zoom on the 21 is unbelievable!!!Hope this can be of aid to you - and if you find an easier way, please let me know -Flipp
