TheMunn
Very very good levers but they come with a very high price tag, you could look at other avid levers or something like the shimano xtr lever, they are also very good. NirZionTrials
any idea where i could buy?
scott-mad
xtr levers in my opinion arn't that good realy. Ultimate levers are currently £159.99 for front and rear at bikedock . However they are shit hot levers, i run a full avid ultimate brake/caliper set-up as a rear brake and its the best!If thats too much, which it definatly is, then id recomend other avid levers like the sd5 sd7 etc.Hope ive helped somewhat. Clarky
Yes they are the best and one of the most expensive mechanical lever, yet i run a cheapo avid atm because i broke mine and its just as good.... downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
SD7 ***!!!They good lever, never used a unltimate like.. but surly they cant be THAT good?
scott-mad
They are THAT good! they're amazing! but not for 80 quid a pop! i got mine for half that price brand new, which i found to be worth it as i was using it as a rear brake and wanted no lever flex. i had a front avid bb7 too and i managed to get another one second hand at 25 quid so had front and rear ultimate levers! was pimp! but yeh sd5 seem to be pretty much as rigid. the sd7 i had flexed quite alot and xtr flexes f**k loads realy! Thom
They are the 'ultimate' !! the lever is cnc'ed and runs on cartridge bearings making it so smooth and stiff. For a front brake though just go an xtr unless you can find a cheap deal on ultimate. I've never liked the feel of the other avid models lever but have always liked the xtr/xt ones. downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
I used to have a SD5, it wasnt that good, fairly shit actually lol.Now i have a SD7 and my brake feels alot nicer and doesnt have any flex at the lever...If a ultimate can make it even better, il buy one... lol
NirZionTrials
thanks guys, for all the answer.i guess its a great lever, i have a feeling it will be sweet with my BB7the problem is, that they sell them in pairs... and i need only one.any idea where?tried EBAY... no luck there
Phatmike
Keep an eye out on eBay. I bought my first one from Ali C 3 years ago for £25, and a few months ago bought two from ebay new for £50! Snapped a lever blade, which cost me about £30 to replace. After trying to source a replacement part for over 4 months, I've finally fitted mine on again today - it's lush. Especially in my custom anodised "pewter" colour. They're excellent levers (read: the best you can buy), but I certainly wouldn't pay £80 for one.
joe b
Like Mike said, they are the best levers around but i wouldn't pay so much for them unless my name started with 'B' and ended in 'ill Gates'. Have a gander around eBay or even on here in the 'For Sale' section. Your bound to get lucky .Cheers,Joe.
