jonny_smith
heyare chris king hubs and headsets really that good to warrant the super high prices? It is just me because £289 seems a hell of a lot just for a hub! Edited December 24, 2006 by jonny_smith
Ali C
they are exeedingly good, but there are others as good for less (hope hubs, fsa headsets)

Broomer
from what ive seen they are good, but dont warrent their prices, i agree with AliC there are components out there equally as good for half the price or less like hope etc.
Tylerlovesalex
i would have a pro 2 rear hub then a king says it all!
Dan6061
My FSA Pig has done the job really..Top bearing casing exploded once..but with a lot of grease, and all the loose bearings, it's been fine.

It is just me because £289 seems a hell of a lot just for a hub!in a word yes.in 2 words, not really.2 years ago, king hubs wer the shizzle. there was nothing even at the same price or higher that could touch them. but cos they wer brilliant, there was no need to improve them, as they already where the best, and had no competition.and they havent got any worse.thing is, a lot of the kings floating round now are a couple of years old, and slightly worn to say the least.which is where a few people are starting to think kings arent that good.and theres now cheaper alternatives, but chris king aint gunna lower there prices all of a sudden, just cos theres an alternative at half the price.and there hub sales are stil relatively unaffected in the other bike disciplines due to the hope pro II etc, theres plenty of people in xc, road, bmx etc, that wont ride anything other than kings, and thatll never change, even though when on an xc bike, i dont think id feel the difference at the pedals between a king, and a deore hub. Greetings
Yes they are worth the money although you can get them new for about 200 quid and not 290. I have full confidence in mine, the mechanism in these hubs is such that it just can't go wrong when lubed correctly. I'd hate to go back to a hub with pawls where 50% of it's strength comes from whether the pawls engage simultaneously. And they rarely do. khoie
I have had a range of hubs.. Hopes,CKs,Profiles all on a stock bike...aswel as various cassete hubs on a bmx. I decided to stick with a profile bmx hub with cnc spacers as u get a decent amount of engagement and a bloomin strong axle in my opinion?don't get me wrong the CK was lovely jubbly But my budget forced me 2 get a cheaper alternative. Best advice i got is buy it to suit your riding. x x
