Crying Lever...

My lever's crying, and I don't know why.

Went out riding today, bailed, and all of a sudden noticed a load of oil on my brake. (It's a raceline so it's kind of noticable)

So - all in all - the oil in my brake is coming out, but not enough to see where it's coming out, it's just leaking - not spurting.

I'm useless with HS33s at the minute - never even bled one, so any help is very useful.

Thanks to all.

I would say take the brake off, stick it in the bath/sink/bucket and bleed it with water. Once its water bled pull the lever and the water should squirt out with more ease than oil does so you'll find where the leake is a bit quicker. Should just be a case of replacing the hosing though.

Unless you damaged a seal, then you may need a new seal or new lever body.

Where exactly did you notice that it was leaking, on the calipers or on the lever body? And if its the lever is it near the lever attachment or the cable attachment?

Between the lever blade pivot, and the housing - I tried getting a picture and uploading but it said:

"THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND

The requested file upload failed because suitable permissions have not been enabled on the 'uploads' directory. Please contact the board administrator and inform them of this error."

But - if you look at it so the TPA is facing you, it's just coming out of the crack between the lever blade and the lever body (don't know the name of that bit).

I don't have a bleed kit - nor the knowledge of bleeding. Never had to do it before so I just... haven't.

If its coming out from around there its probably the master cylinder. If that is the case then you definitely need to replace either the lever body (think u can only get that with a whole new lever) or the master cylinder seals.

Like I said, a lever body has nothing to do with leaks since there is no oil in it.
