Tom_
Right i have a tensile lying around which i would quite like to put on my stock..however i dont have a fixed rear hub Im pretty sure iv heard of people bodging a hub so that the freehub no longer works, thus creating a fixed hub. I was just wondering if this is possible, how do i do it? Cheers,Tom
liam-pantera
or8 ive got the solution remove your cassete/sprocket and uses a chisel or dot punch to make a small hole were the hub shell and cassette meet , then pour in some allderite super glue stuff and wala done fixed i did it to a old shimano hub its well easy and costs pritty mutch nothing
Janson
a temporary solution is zip-tying the cassette to the spokes. as long as you put them so that the hub is fully engaged, it'll work...you only need something to make it not coast you know. Muel
I would strip it all down, the free-hub bit too, and solder the pawls into the rachet face. And swop te spring for small blocks of metal or plastic or summat.Worth a try, and you could de-solder it later if you wanted. Ali C
I would just go with the zip ties myself, it works and it doesnt ruin the hub.
boon racoon
if it's a hope hub take out the spacer under the freehub body / on the axle and then the QR will hold the freehub in a fixed manner
Endohopper
Sneakily observing this thread with great interest . May have some use for that XTR rear hub after all , it seems . . .
Glass
remove the internals from the freebody (for weight saving) then weld the the freehub shell to the rest of the hub and bam u got yourself cheap freehub. I had it done on an old XTR hub and it was light!
kid creole
I did the zip tie one and i works perfectly just looks a bit crappy , but for long term you can remove the freehub and fill it and then screw it back in until it tightens rigid
