Pdf How To Guide Of Trials? (mechanics)

Well recently i brought a haynes manual which was a complete fix guide for my Scooter. We ended up paying 15quid for a book (which is a bit of a rip off) but my dad got the same content on a PDF file he brought off ebay and got sent the CD for 2 quid!

This got me thinking.. people always post up great how to guides but when it comes to it no-one can ever find the right one! what if we could create a complete PDF guide for all your trial'sing needs from bleeding maguras - fixing lazy pistons - disks - BB's - grinding rims - setting up pads - (not really a how to bodge guide but how to get your bike running smooth) just a quality guides with lot of simple pictures and guides

Thing is most trials bikes CAN be fixed with simple garage tools (apart BBs headsets and stuff......)

There are so many people come into the sport (which is great) but all of them seem completly unable to do things for themselves (so i end up doing it for them!) my friend has been riding trials 4 years still didnt realise you can give brakes a sink bleed without a siringe or the pipes or anything.....

and say sell the CD's for a couple of quid..... maybee get tarty to sell them

or give them to people who donate more than 5 pounds to trials forum so we can spend some money on a group ride like a DJ memorial ride?

Good / Crap idea?

Good / Crap idea?

EDIT : Also well aimed at the target audience , because all who browse here / order online with Tarty obviously own P.Cs . Simplified line drawings and clearly written explainations of the procedures with a contents or overview at the top .

That said , there are several well written yet largely ignored online mechanics guides ( Sheldon ) that have the advantage of being updated to reflect and describe emerging technologies ( external B.B etc ) , which a P.D.F cannot once distributed .

Also ...

Its not a bad idea, something I was considering doing myself a while ago, although theres no way it'd sell. Perhaps one or two copies but everything that could be in it, could be found on the forum for free, within minutes.

I may do it one day, I'm awaiting a (pretty much) hole new bike to arrive so I'll be building brakes, bleeding and fitting everything. So I may make a few guides then...infact, I will do. Watch this space :P

That's be an excellent project, like browsing the forum, and copy/edit the best tips and regroup them, then add/take specific pics to illlustrate them. Really good idea. It would probably take a few weeks to do, but would be very useful.

Basically, take the time to do it properly and make a booklet that is specifically geared to trials and cheap tricks and alternatives to regular tools :).

Because the problem with most publications or bike maintenance books is that they never answer questions like, can I do this without the proper tools? They are always illustrated with all the perfect tools. :shifty:

Then get a good lawyer for all the mummies who'll sue you because you encourage bad practises ^_^

Magura make their warantee void if their brakes aren't bled with their kit, their oil, their spanner  etc...
