Lloyd B
Many people have grinds but i have been riding for over a year now and i find that soft pads with a bit of tar works nicer and you dont where your brake pads down as much hope i helped
Orgun_Donor
In all honesty a grind works much better, much sharper bite, and better hold, with out your pads sticking to the rims like they can do with tar. You will need to pads designed for a grind though, i would recommend Rock Pad Blues or Coustsinks. But you dont need it, Zoo pads work well, but the rim need to be dry and clean for them to work really well, so not great for winter riding. moza
Hi,You will find in the wet that smooth rims and tar is bad, using good pads on a nice sharp grind is amzing, i am testing some pads for Ali C and they have better hold in the wet than they do in the dry. but i would recomend koxx green pads or rock pads hope this helps moza

powerz
I've ridden for nearly a year without a grind then brought my bike that already had a grind and now i wouldn't ride with out one.Yes i think zoo pads are good on a smooth rim but the rim does need to be clean so not good for winter ridding (WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN SAID).I think a grinded rim is better as your brake pads wont stick/lock to the rim like tar does sometimes and a grinded rim is good in rain unlike tar.I have a grinded rim using koxx browns which have lasted me ages and showing no wear atall really and my brakes have never slipped- Cant go wrong
