Hi fellas, i avent posted here much, maybe ill start now....

I currently ride a Gu Typhoon (stock) I've built it u gradually into somthing, i at least think is nice. Its helped me get into trials really well, and its nice to ride.......but

For some silly reason i have come up with the idea to sell the frame and a few other bits i have accumulated to my mate and lure him into the world of trials and get myself some new kit. I obviously need a new frame, and i want some new forks. Just wondering everyones opinions, i am currently looking at the MBK T1000 and the Vario Styx. anybody ridden either or both and got any opinions? I like the Typhoon but it is possibly a tiny bit long, though i dont want a very short frame.

I would be happy if you all told me to not be silly and save my money! (but I'll probs go and buy myself somthin else stupid)

Cheers for listening to me ramble

Harty

Only the same as Chris' Long GU!

If you talking about the wheelbase,Then it's my bad. :$ I do overall like the look of the mbk better than the vario. (Y) Maybe go differnt and get a 07 pitbull or something? Meh it's up to you.

Tom Rigg (on this forum) had both frames. He liked the vario but he prefers the MBK. Both frames are great quality and ride very well. The main thing tom didnt like about the vario was the width of the seat stays. Basically he had to run his magura pistons so far in to make the pads touch on the rim... i.e. not as much power in the brake, and half worn pads couldn't be used. The other thing is that the bottom bracket has to be a special extra wide one because the frame is so wide - just a general inconveinence.

The MBK on the other hand is more "normal" in terms of international standard parts fitting without a problem. Quality wise the finish and paint job on both frames is amazing, really individual and hard wearing.

If you are planning on running a rear disc both frames can take it, however the disc mount on the MBK is plus 40 (i think) whereas on the vario it's only plus 20 (again, i think), therefore a disc would be more powerful on a MBK.

Wheelbase isn't an issue... 1100 (or there abouts) on the MBK isn't really that 'hilarious' its pretty standard for these days. If you do want shorter though then the Vario is better in that way.

Coming from a GU which has a +60 bb you might not want to get a bike which is too much lower bb, so maybe the +35 on the MBK will be better than the +30 on the vario (obviously only a minimal difference, but worth considering).

My gut reaction would be to say get the MBK but that is MY personal preference, so the descision is up to you! Hope that gives you some ideas to consider!
