Lee Cable
Righteo, im sick of school. I was going to join the navy after my a levels anyway. So basically, Ive been looking at the RM commando's.I know the fitness is going to have to be top notch. I can already do all of the running, and then do the push ups and situps staright after. Its all no worriesI was just wondering, does anyone know anyone, that joined the royal marines? How did they find it? Did they enjoy it?? Did they ride? and if so Will I be allowed to ride in my free time?Just some quick questionsLeeBaBy Edited December 15, 2006 by radical rider

Si-man
And you want to ride when you get in there...Are you taking the piss??Once in, you will have no time to ride, and probably not want to in the end.people who go in the commandos will tend to be hardcore nutters, you go in acting like a puff and going "oooo can i ride my seatless bike" and you will probably be laughed out. Smoâ„¢
Bjorn joined the Marines, had to quit riding and hated it so badly he left a couple months ago. My advice (including all the stories he's told me) would be to forget about it right away.
Lee Cable
Well I have been wanting todo something like this all my life, and I personally and alot of my friends think I could make it. I have alot of mental perserverence(even though I cant spell). I know that its going to be very hard, and i understand that.

Bjorn was a Marine for a couple years but the stuff he had to put up with was simply bollocks. Being woken up at like 4.30am, made to swim across a lake then take your wet clothes off, run a few miles then put your wet clothes back on and stand in a watch tower until dawn. Doesn't sound like much fun to me matey. He said he thought it was impossible to fall asleep standing up until he joined the Marines. You gotta get pushed. if you can hack it, you got enough heart for them, and youll be a shithot soldier.

I have alot of mental perserverence(even though I cant spell). I know that its going to be very hard, and i understand that. Sadly, whilst they are trying to encourage you, the only people who can see the side of you which says your are tough enoguh to be a marine, are people that don't necessarily like you. My mates could think I would climb Everest because I was physically capable of doing it, even though I clearly am not. Only someone who didn't like me could honestly say that I was capable of doing, and it wouldn't be a articularly nice reason either, it'd probably be something like "because he's so f**king stuborn", that's when you know you could make it, when even someone who does not like you, who is your enemy, can see something in you.Admitadly it's nice to have your mates behind you, but seriously, take what they say with a pinch of salt, because in reality, they have never been a marine, and have no idea what it takes. But hey, what do I know, go down your local recruitment office and have a chat, but I doubt anyone in the more elite army units has any time to do anything such as cycle for lesuire. I understand what you are trying to say. But the thing is, i dont have any enemies. Like i said, im a very friendly person, and I get on with everyone. Haz
Well, the model doesn't work for everyone, and it was minor point. It's jsut a good way of making sure what you are doing is what is right for you.If he thinks your good to go, do it.

Think about what it'd be like joining the SBS!As for interrogation training i'd welcome that, beats getting caught and not knowing what ot expect.
