Janson
if a hub skips that much, he should try to fix it and NOT ride it. riding a skipping hub will not make it not skip.
Greetings
I've had a very close look at the internals on my hub (it's probably about 2-3 years old) and noticed that the drive shell "thread" on which the ring drive is situated does wear out a bit. This means that the system can sometimes have problems with instant engagement as the ring drive isn't moving accurately on the drive shell due to play. Just my thought though. abtrials
you got ripped off then. if its buggered they will often do it for free at hope direct.yea i know but the quote i got was via email. as i wanted to see what was the charge. £42 not alot for a £130 hub (pluss i never sent it off anyway i just got a pro2), but hey if you can get it done free, that only makes hope pro2's even better a? N.Wood
OK so...Thankyou for the pics Janson, were very helpful Tried what you said, and it was not moving at all.Until it moved a little bit. Then, as you rightly suggested, my head xploded 'cos i took a screwdriver to a £300 hub.So, off i trotted to the King Importer (Bromley Bikes) and spoke to Howard in there, he gave me lots of things to think about.According to him, Kings NEVER slip, and the slipping trials riders feel is infact the grooved part of the axel end ripping out a bit of alu from the frame dropout. Also, King never made 'Trials Springs' as they were sold as a few years ago. The spring actually has very little to do with the engagement of the hub, its the pedalling force that moves the drive ring. Told him about stretching the spring, and he said that'd do nothing to help the hub. Apparently it takes the force of a Porsche Carerra engine to make a King slip.So..... Its having a spring retainer fitted, and I asked him nicely to run it on Tri-Flow, and we shall see what happens. Was an interesting excersise anyways, right or wrong about what he said, he certainly knows his way around a King.Shall update when i get it back on Friday

N.Wood
Word Robert... Hitting one bit at a time, and nothing would move no matter where i hit it!I hit it right next to the inside of the hubshell rather than the groove etc...I can assure everyone I'm only partially retarded, but luckily the good half of me is mechanically sound

And I admit, everytime I go into ilkeston hellfrauds there never sat around, always building/repairing something. But, like everything, you must get the occasional retard...or perhaps he was just being a dickhead for the sake of it? Onza Kieron
Haha, we don't ring them, although, deals ended last night and a demon went back up to 100 form like 75 I think, anyway, I put the tag back on for 100 at 7 last night, this woman comes screaming over sayin it was 75 and the offer isnt over yet, my reply is "yes I know, we're just preparing for tomorrow, would you like one of these?""Yes I would for £75""Ok i'll go check the stock""You better get that £100 label off it""Yes but we're preparing for tomorrow""Well i'm not paying £100""I know, only £75""Well then why does the sign say £100, you better get it took off right now"I mean, how ignorant/plain stupid do some people get, I felt like chucking it at her. anzo
i take nothing away from you hallfrauds workers, but this is not the fountain of knowledge shop Yes, but thats your opinion. Think of some old woman buying a bike for her grandchild...she may not have a clue on where to begin. The bit of knowledge from a halfords worker will make the world of difference. Halfords isn't meant for top of the line components, they'd go bust within days if they tried. Its meant for familys wanting bikes to ride around the countryside on, or for some 12 year olds bmx, who doesn't care about quality components.Bikes aren't exactly mind blowing mechanics, but as said, I'd never trust halfords with my king hubs. Simply because I wouldn't trust anyone with my hub other that tartybikes, basically because I know they're committed, whereas students with a part time job is a different story. No offence to you Adam with any of this
