N.Wood
Hello all.I've had a King rear (ISO, standard axel, alu freehub body) for a couple of years now, and its recently started skipping lots, in the region of 2 an hour.I cleaned it out a mere 2 days ago, but has made no difference. The axel hasn't snapped, the insides looked as clean as they've always been, bearing preload done up correctly etc.Was wondering if I've dislodged the spring or something?I could take it to Bromley Bikes (though they'd whack a load of grease in it and tell me I'm a silly boy for riding trials) or get Tart or someone to look at it.However, this would obviously be time consuming, meaning i had no bike to ride.Any ideas? Mark W
I then got a hope pro 2 and lived happily ever after. I guess out of the numbers of Pro2Ts sold, someone had to have a good experience? Have you tried just stripping it again to double check you've reassembled it right? May make sense just to double check shit, then if it's still not working maybe get Tart to have a butchers.

Greetings
It could be possible that the teeth on the ring drive are a bit worn?I guess the most important part in a king hub is for the ring to move freely on the drive shell. If it doesn't, it won't engage properly. If you haven't, make sure that the drive shell is well lubed with a thin oil. If it's too thick it will cause the hub to skip. There's not much in a King that can cause it to skip as long as the components aren't worn. Joe Papasnap Maher
* I take no resposibilty, if you happen yo f**k up your king hahaPul axle out...then from non drive side...hammer and screw driver...just tapping on the plate which willl slowly push all the interals out. When hitting the plate...there is a edge to it..to and get above the edge ( if that makes any sence )
Greetings
Mr Maher, you are a king. Just dismantled my hub your way with no problems at all I was even close to getting a hubtool found it dead easy having locked the drive shell with a chain for it not to rotate. Janson
my guide > hub tool.it will eventually ruin your spring retainer and the hubshell because you're forcing the bearing out at an angle, kind of.does work though....

Fixed Pants™
Must admit it's skipping rather a lot, went riding with him from 4:50 till 7 and it slipped about 10 times me thinks, annoying how such an expensive part doesn't work propperly. Ben@LeicesterTrials
It's alot colder now, so the Lube in the hub is going to get slightley thicker and mushy. Just strip it down again, flush it out with WD40 and clean it out so it's completley dry. Then just run it dry or put a spot of Lube in.Thats what I did when mine started skipping, Sorted it and never skipped again. Made it louds louder aswell If that don't sort it, send it to Tarty. Ali C
heh heh, cheers man Kings are good hubs, I rode the same one for 3 years BUT it did slip and it got worse over time. I have got friends who have used kings and not liked them (iolo had one for a week, it skipped a full rotation and took a lot of skin off him, so he sold it and got a hope)My hope has been perfect for the 10 months I have dad it, not one skip yet!!Anyway, I dont wanna provoke an argument, hopes and kings are both good hubs.
