Yeah bit odd. I guess that Evo did have a crap start, and yeah if the guys who made BTTF did choose their original plan of a Fridge as a time machine instead of a DeLorean (some people may be thinking... whats the difference? haha) then the car would have been totally forgotten etc, but fortunately they did use the DMC12 and its what kept people interested, thousands of people for that matter, to this day. Im biased, obviously, but I recon if most of you saw one driving down your highstreet you would stop and look... surely? lol!

For one that evo is obviously standard, secondly the evo got a poor start and 3rdly if there was any corners involved that car would be left for dead, my dad has a evo 6 with 400+ bhp we go to an event every year called "ten of the best" now some of them are impressive to watch, Norris designes evo and rc developments evo who tunes my dads evo 6 are running in the 9secs 1/4 mile think norris did a 9.35 at summet like 170mph terminal speed. these are proper not that shit thing

Thats a kinda naive response to be honest =/ All of the Evo's and Impreza's etc are modern day performance cars, not built in the 70's or whenever the DeLorean was! You cant really compare a car built for £100k to get stupidly quick to a classic car thats had some work done to make it, I imagine, a hell of a lot of amusement to drive!

I do however love the Norris Evo, saw his earlier Evo 7 which was something silly like 700bhp!

Love it or hate it, but as Adam said, with 840bhp and a sub-9second 1/4 mile its a touch mental!

speaking to nick quite frequently about cars the lad does know his stuff, yes he does like to tell everyone how good his a3 is, but then it is for good reason. i dont know many people that have a car quite as nice or as quick as his at 19! and theres a very good reason for the vag rant, they do make a lot of other cars look well, poor.

i do think its a little sad the way people take their opinions of cars too far. But also there are people who seem to think that if someone doesnt like the particular car they own or desire, and they present their negative opnion on it, the said owner/person who desires that car thinks its a personal attack on themselves i find this quite funny.

i do think anyone who says a subaru impreza is a poor handling car is a little niave, but then its only an opinion.

back to the damn topic, its damn impressive that something built by the irish 20 odd years ago, albeit not standard, can hit the 1/4 mile in 13 secs. i'd be happy with a 13 second car, unfortunately i think my golf would be closer to 20 seconds!

Lol thats pretty true, its also not just a different length, but the roof has been lowered aswell and the track of the car has been widened to make it handle better. It is what you'd call a complete 1-off

yeh man that's gonna be awesome but me being a pedantic, i think they should of kept the old colour scheme. Just looks tacky now with the silver/grey.

i can't see it being any quicker than the old one either really, simply because anything faster than the old reyland escort will have to have a jet engine.

i have never ONCE claimed my car is the best 'care' ever (ill assume you mean car) i quite obviously know it isnt.

i have ALWAYS stated that what i say is my own personal opinion, and yes, i do genuinely believe that in my situation, i have THE best car possible. that is of course considering my age, previous driving/racing history, the useage of the car, and the cost.

i am 20years old, and have always been used to a fast car, so anything slower was out of the question. i raced cars in several different series both on tarmac and offroad from the age of ten to fifteen, and have an entire cabinet full of trophies which prove i wasnt useless at it (i won 13 of my last 14 races, all from the back of the grid, the one i didnt win i came 2nd, running on only 3 cylinders)

i use this car for comuting to and from uni

(cornwall to hampshire), and to organised rides, and for general everyday useage, its not here to be a fun super fast throw around car, but consiering my history, i was never going to settle for anything that didnt handle well, and have a nice bit of poke.

i am to be starting an engineering placement in june, working for a contracting construction firm, and i want to be able to make a good impression from the moment i arrive. i personally dont believe that turning up in an evo or a scooby would set the right impression, the audi gives a classy and sophisticated look, which is not too noticable, its subtle, but still cool.

then theres the cost, this car cost me just £2850, thats under £3000, for a classy, comfortable, modern car, which will hit 60mph in 7 seconds, and carry on to over 145mph, all in the most extreme comfort.

sure, there are many older cars that will do that speed for the same price, but i highly doubt any of them will have a 4 star euro NCAP saftey rating, with front and side airbags, i highly doubt they would be as reliable, and i know for a fact none would be built and engineered as well as the Audi, which is, lets face it, a small executive car, not a large hatchback.

i never said my car was the best, and i never said anything else was shit either

i got pretty lucky, although, prices appear to have dropped sinse i got mine.

going price for a decent one now seems to be around £4k for a really decent one, £3.5k for a good one.

about as much car for your money as your going to get IMO

that is impressive, BUT a big lump like that, does look nice and tidy too, iv spotted some room for another turbo , i think whats more impressive is a 13.2 1/4 mile out of a single turbo NOT V6 and only 2 litre

EDIT: that Escort is the sweetest thing. iv got a soft spot for Escort's. also VW,Audi,Skoda very nice cars, i had a golf and like prawn says its sophisticated nice car for the lady's. they love the old "POSH" car. but iv gone back to wanting to go fast, quickly and i enjoy having vans too. its easier for me to throw bike in back of too. but each to their own, people have their opinions, sometimes good to have an old bite of the tongue

looking back at your topic history however shows a different story.

a recent post of yours suggests your still at college, so unless your a retart, your no older than 18, which means the chances are you have no real life experience of good, or fast cars anyway.

i would like to think that i may irritate people a little with my constant goings on about cars, although if i am hated for this by anyone, then thats their own bitter problem, as to my knowledge i have not said a single untrue word about cars on this forum.
