nice brake boosters (Y) and can you tell me how much it cost for the aluminium metal and how long it took you to make them please

thanks

thanks man.

my dad got a big 3mm thick sheet from work. i have no idea how much it would cost or where to get it from.. wouldn't thought aluminium would cost that much.

it took me:

. 1 day to design it and roughly cut both of them

. 1 night to file them down and all that

. 1 night to drill holes, make spacers, polish and set up the brake

so 3 days.. just about

you could probably put one together in a whole day or two maybe.

depends how good you are i suppose...

lol could make some more..

sell them off for a tenner :P ??

  • 1 month later...

I personally haven't made a brake booster but I know a few people who have. They made them from small motorbike sprokets, the ones which the centre could be removed from if needed... I was young when I was told this so I can't remember what they did with them but they looked good lol..

Wouldnt you be scared to use a motorbike sproket as a booster, because wouldnt the little gear knobs be hanging out like daggers?

I think I would be getting very very injured if I used a sprocket as a booster!

Got any pics of it? Or any pics of the riders legs who used them?

Lol, it wasn't like that, it was the inside, like a floting rotor sort of thing, taken off the floating bit, then the inside was used... :turned:

If that makes sense.. Sorry, it's rather hard to explain lol. :(

I'll try and get a pic of one if any of the lads still have one.

Oh, I get you now, they used that inner part.

Ah, that sounds much nicer now haha!

Hey, if you wanted to make a booster quicker? Couldnt you just draw out the shape and then use an angle grinder to cut it out, but not perfectly, then just use a file to smoothen it all up? Wouldnt that save you heaps of time of cutting with a hacksaw then filing down and down till you get to the line your meant to file to?
