New Msn Virus..nastyer Perhaps

Wright Pads

Recommended Posts

Just found this one out for my self on my vrius rig.

A contact will add you...they never apear on line. How ever MSN will sign in and out on it's own accord with the message displayed you have signed in on a differnt pc. This is not the normal log on and off as MSN does when the servers reload or on a conectivty loss.

Microsoft & MSN are sorting the problem. Belived there will be an update off the Microsoft updates home page for it!

I haven't been here much as preperation for my bros funeral are full swing seeings as it;s this Friday.

I'm only posting what i personly found out and have been told when i sent the info in.

Pete

What do you mean exactly?

On msn, is it a specific name/address for the person that adds you or is it randomly generated?

Also... Hows it manage to infect you if they're not online to send you anything? Hows it get round the anti-virus/firewalls/funky shit? How long before theres an anit virus definition for it?

EDIT: Forum automatically changes A.V(without full stop) into have.

I had 3 new contacts add me that seamed odd, they added me on a very old addy of mine anyway. MSN has over 5 million customer/users so it's taking time to find out. They are added to your list, the list is accessed via the servers your msn data sits on and every time you log on and off it's updated and sheared out through a good 15 servers which anyone can get to use. MSN has to be allowed passed vris scanners, firewalls etc but this more hacking currently than virus though minesweaper has picked a few nastys up in it's tracks. How long is a bit of string....im not working right now as i can;t face much what with my bro i only reported it in. The msn team in the uk is 150 people and usa is soemthing silly

So basically it goes on the server and msn lets it onto your pc through the data you get from msn that tells you where the letters go in someones name so that your pc can make the name up on your screen?

I still don't see how that can work :P

So far all i have found it do is copy your data everything, Windows, Mac, Linux registreys of all years and versions inc Vista hahah. It also copys your contacts list and will use them as the next set of targets. The IF..something in the USA think it's do to do with fruad and people having creditcard, bank account data on there pc and names and address as manny do for all sorts of reasons!

Minesweaper is the only one to be updated with an alert for the address that add you! IBM have some very close protorcalls with Micrsoft right now.

I'm lost to whom has made it or why as Mac's haven't been hacked in ten years full but this goes through MSN and into you mac

Yea but if thats true, then it would still need to send and install another program to send all that data. MSN only send with in it self and doesnt access any other information!

So it still doesnt work at all......

I was under that impression too, maybe another pete exageration? Got any links to news sites or further info about it pete?

na what he is saying is, if the random person adds you to msn, all the information on your machine will be copied........ But to do that they would need access and rights through MSN or another program..... like a virus! But it still needs to get on your machine ;)

I call bull on this to be honest!

Darren your not thinking right about this.

MSN can and will tranmit and recive data from your pc!

The latest is thus

A contact adds you

Your MSN will log out then back in in around 30/60 seconds

Your contacts are copied which is the next lot of people to have this addy add you and get the same treatment.

There are many programs out there that can run within the msn direcotry to send and recive things. There is one which has been found form the last i read just.

I don;t know much more than that as im not working technicly due to having time off work as to the events of my brother, Sorry if spelling is well off in this, hung over as we had a slute to my bro last night and got very drunk all night on JD n coke (JDC)

By the way the sad f**king 15 tossers that came on msn kicking off my bro was not dead....post here so i can give you a return messgae, i'll take photos of all the cards we have at home, the kit her had that the army gave us, the flowers on his grave of which we laid him to rest in on friday, the huge ass photo we have of him that his mates had printed up, the sliver framed and engraved photo of him on his 2nd therta in irag form his unit, and in a few days the dvd due to some family being too ill and old to attend and also the otherside of the world.

Death is not something you f**k about with it. You can wish someone was but you don;t say someone is when they are not!!!

Pete, im not getting into an argument and not having a go at you.

i just lost my nan to cancer last week so know how hard it is and am not going to say your lying when you may be telling the truth

The reason i think people are having a go is that you have been well to known to lie in the past, its like the boy who cried wolf. Only 2 weeks ago you said something about you mum die-ing before and then someone had come on here saying they had been at yours having a cuppa with her (dont sound too good Pete, again im not having a go im just making a point)

The best thing to have done Pete was to keep it to yourself, you are still able to grieve without telling the TF world and it saves you getting sh it for something that may well be true

As for the virus, i cant access MSN at the moment so im fine with it

Frooty

Hmm, to the people saying it's gonna install programs and stuff, i'm a p00ter n00b (sort of, i'd call myself an advanced user) and you're the 1337 but aren't we forgetting trojans and all that malarky, trojan means getting into your system undetected... And if you've got zonealarm or any other firewall... You set it so MSN never gets blocked, which is how it does this? And it can access the net using MSN... Probably not correct but it's my thoughts...

Disclaimer: I am in NO way backing up what Pete has said as this would be pure stupidity :P Only joking Pete :P

No pete, you not thinking about this right. MSN will only send what you tell it to send and things built with in it(ie contact list)

I will not scower you machine and send off random bits of data, if it did that there would be an up roar in the numerous online communities and no one would use it..... EVER!

And what your saying is, that programs can run from the msn folder..... congratilations you installed another program there, whats that got to do with msn supposidly taking random bits of data off your machine???

So it would still need another program like a trojan or virus to be sent to your machine.

Unless you have a new article or something like that Pete, then its still going to be Bull.

@ Fat Pants, MSN is only chat it needs to use other programs to access things like e-mail and websits, so if it was sending any other data it would be sending through another program not MSN.
