MikeCottTrials
I'm thinking about having ago at grinding my rim so can you guys give me some links to decent grinders, preferably with all the bits that i would need cheers Edited December 11, 2006 by MikeCottTrials
N.Wood
Links? No.You need a cheap one.Variable speeds can be nice, some say the medium-slow settings give a harsher grind.Grinding disks are more important than the grinder its self. They need to be sharp, and depending on how harsh you like it, metal grinding, metal cutting and stone cutting can be used. You'll need eye protection and ear protection (i do anyways!) Token
B&Q!Got a nice slow grinder with 2 discs for about 10 - 15 quid I think.Ear protection? Eye protection is a good idea.
Walleee
yeh, I got a cheapo one for tenner, with two discs. I've taken a hacksaw to the one I use most and cut slot's out around it, help's to dig in that little bit more....
Danny Kearns
Me and a mate use a cutting disc, and errr, I think my new rim will only be holding this one grind because i dont think it will be able to hold another one, but my brake is fooooooking amazing.Dan. Token
I never really thought about different discs, but it'd make sense that a sharp disc gives a deeper grind. Explains why my last grind was waff, the disc was pretty worn.
Tony Harrison
I got a cheap one and someone smashed into my car and nicked it. All ten quids worth, except they left the disks, side handle and spanner... Word of warning... ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION! If you've seen what happens when one of those disks breaks up then you'll know what I mean. No sight - no trials riding. CurtisRider
im surprised nobody has mentioned the size of the grinder...get a 4 1/5 inch model, 9 is a bit excessive and a tad hefty as well as being more expensive-however i found my grinds were more consistant when i used my 9 inch if you think you will ever use the angle grinder for anything other than for your bike, then invest in a decent one-id really advise a makita, pretty much all my power tools are makita now, and i never get any troubles for a cheap thing, then whatever will do, cos its not gonna be straining

Tomm
Is there any reason why a spanner comes with it? So you can change the discs. It's not really a spanner, it's a little pronged tool, but I'm being pedantic there
