Grinding

Links? No.

You need a cheap one.

Variable speeds can be nice, some say the medium-slow settings give a harsher grind.

Grinding disks are more important than the grinder its self.

They need to be sharp, and depending on how harsh you like it, metal grinding, metal cutting and stone cutting can be used.

You'll need eye protection and ear protection (i do anyways!)

I got a cheap one and someone smashed into my car and nicked it. All ten quids worth, except they left the disks, side handle and spanner... :S

Word of warning... ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION! If you've seen what happens when one of those disks breaks up then you'll know what I mean. No sight - no trials riding.

im surprised nobody has mentioned the size of the grinder...

get a 4 1/5 inch model, 9 is a bit excessive and a tad hefty as well as being more expensive-however i found my grinds were more consistant when i used my 9 inch ;)

if you think you will ever use the angle grinder for anything other than for your bike, then invest in a decent one-id really advise a makita, pretty much all my power tools are makita now, and i never get any troubles :) for a cheap thing, then whatever will do, cos its not gonna be straining :)

But I do remember paul moaning that he had spent way over 500 quidles on makita this summer...kinda says it all I think.

Pauls grinder also tends to be a little good, I now have a little chunk outa my rim.
