Technology today...

Technology amazes me completely, i mainly like hardware type Technology. Computers, phones ETC.

So this is my Technology thread, for those of you, that like me, can't get enough of Technology.

So please post/discuss things that you have found out about latest cutting edge Technology.

Here is two links of my own, these two videos REALLY fascinate me, The concept of 'clever touch screens' and '360 DEGREE holograms' makes me wonder were we will be in 30years from now.

Am i the only one who's a little skeptical of that mac dual touch screen video?

Theres certain points where the coordination isn't quite right with the hands and the screen picture. Almost as if it were a video being played onto a normal screen and someones just memorized where they need to move their hands in order to make it look real.

Take for instance when he resizes one of those many photo's, his right hand jerks back a little bit as he's making it bigger.... which should surely make the image shrink a bit quickly then enlargen again as his hand move. But alas, the image carries on enlarging despite his hand slip.

I'm not saying it can't be done, i'm just not 100% on that footage of it.

Absolutely superb. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see that

Yes, i think the video's are pretty amazing, and the idea of having a holographic projector built into a pda (in the near future) is pretty impressive.

Has anybody else got any new technology they want to talk about, or have heard of...

At school we have these electronic Smart boards which are basically a projection on to the screen on the way but also the wall is lined with sensors so basically its projecter with a touch screen and theres electronic pens t work on it like on graphics tablets, pretty cool shizzle.

You seem to have skipped one of the fastest growing areas in new technologies.

Motor industry.

New cars are pretty much computers driven by an engine for power.

Example, New Ford Gallaxy has over 45 computers on board, as well as High and medium speed CAN bus and LIN bus networking. You would be suprised just what items on the car are computer controled, and how things have evolved to allow more acurate contol and measurement of the cars runnings.

As well as the many computers controling engine management, transmission contorls and other mechanical operating gear, you now have computers for the stereo, each door, sunroof, interior lights, exterior lights (each side) wipers. cigar lighter, heaters ect.

There isnt much left on a car now if anything that isnt montiored and controled by a computer.

Give it a couple years and every Garage will have a laptop and other computers just to look at them.

Where I work we have to laptops, and a few other diagnostics computers.
