guineasmithpig
wide, with a fat tyremore boing from your bonks, and better grip/cushioning for gaps to front wheeli was running a koxx rear rim on a hope xc with a 2.35in dh tyre on the front! weighed a bit, but was grip-tastic! Tony Harrison
A Koxx rear on the front??!? How did that steer? My advice would be a Planet-X LMF. They're about 30mm wide, reasonably light and very strong. As for a tyre, I use a Michelin Hot S, but you might get laughed at. Also I like an IRC El Gato on the front... Not super pinch resistant, but light weight.EDIT: And if you're looking for 32 holes, CRC do it for £19.99 - bargain! Broomer
i dont rearly see the point of stupidly wide rims on the rear, let alone on the front. the mavic will be fine, im running a mavic 321 on the front of mine.unless your doing big front wheel stuff, maybe then you might want a slightly bigger rim. Ali C
personally I dont got any narrower than 36mm on the front. if your riding street then I cant see you needing a ride front rim really, but if you ride natural you will like the extra grip and stability a wider rim gives. N.Wood
I'm still rockin' a '97 Mavic X517CD and i'm definately consideing a wider rim...Though I run a 2.3 Tioga Blue Dragon and it grips well, but on natural it does get a little unstable at times. Damon W
wide un wi a 2.35" maxxis tyre.helps wi natural, wen stuffs cok eyed, means tyres more stable.and gives the tyre a more square profile which is better grip then its rounded counterpart RAILS!!!!! steve@banbury-trials
i prefer wider rims to thin ones ,just because it think it feels more stable than a thin rim.steve
manuel
thin - lighter (and probably just as strong if you get a mavic) and less rolling resistance.... get a skinny mavic and a 2.35 single ply maxxis.
