Captain Scarlet
Hey Guys,I was thinking about getting a new rim for when I get my Onza T-vee (07).I want a 19" so its nice and thick, but I got a few questions to ask.1) Will a 19" rim fit an Onza T-vee2) Will a need a new innertube3) Will Magura's still work/be adjusted to fit the wheel4) What size tyre will I need for it, and what do you reccomend I should get as an affordable one. Thanks in advance.-Tom
ZOO!PYTHON
hiya mate,1/ 99% sure it will, i had a t-bird and it did and there v. similar 2/ No.3/ Yes they will still fit, need to be adjusted/moved down more probably.4/ Maxxis Creepy Crawler from tartybikes.co.ukHope all works out Hope this helps.Mat
Rupertbear
i always thought the t-vees had 20inch rims front and rear, this meaning it will not fit because the brake mounts will be too high, correct me if im wrong.
ZOO!PYTHON
Well so did my t-bird but then i brought a 19" wheelbuild for it and then you just have to re-arrange the mounts, i.e. slide them up/down in order to aline the pads against the rim properly Mat
Captain Scarlet
Hehe thanks for the help guys.I should buy myself a new wheel hopefully in the new year, thinking about an Onza Hog rim.

Rupertbear
looking at the onza site the t-bird has a 19inch rim and the t-vee has a 20, the 19inch rim will not fit on the t-vee
ZOO!PYTHON
No mate, it will, sorry i forgot to mention i had the old t-bird It had a 20" with maggies set up fine, then i brought the 19 and the maggies were set up fine and working again. Sorry!Mat
mark145
No mate, it will, sorry i forgot to mention i had the old t-bird It had a 20" with maggies set up fine, then i brought the 19 and the maggies were set up fine and working again. Sorry!Mat Sorry mate your wrong I went to my LBS a couple of months ago after asking the same question (should of used the search ) And they said since the first ever T-bird the rims have been 19". So anyway I would say just get maggies for your T-vee or save and get the T-bird and you'll be fine. There is not much of a point getting a 19" IMO unless your rim cracks or etc. Plus if your just starting out you wont need a new rim, and your probably worth getting a stem or handlebar setup instead. lawrence osborn
yeah you coudn't run a 19" on the t vee the frame wouldn't have enough clearance for the tyre and as said befor the t bird comes with a 19" rim
Captain Scarlet
Well the T-Bird and T-Vee are basically the same frame, just different paintjob. If a 19" can fit on a T-bird then I'd imagine you could for a T-vee?
ZOO!PYTHON
Once again sorry! I just remembered that i got skanked and sold a t-bird that had bmx wheels on it! So mine did have a 20" wheel on it maggies did work, then my 19" wheel was fitted with bigger tyre and that still worked with the brakes But agreed that it's not really worth the effort! I think maggies are a good idea or yer, the t-bird Sorry for the mix up guys!Mat
Captain Scarlet
I think maggies are a good idea or yer, the t-bird Sorry for the mix up guys!MatI would get the T-bird, but the 07 model doesn't come with Magura's as standard so I might as well go for the Vee. ZOO!PYTHON
perhaps the 06 model? Or second hand one with maggies?Cheers Mat
bionicman
this topic has been done before but yes a 19" wheel will definatly fit on a t-vee and you dont need new tubes but you need a creepy crawler or some tyre like that
Dan6061
T-Birds didn't start with 19" rims. When I had my '02 T-Bird, it came with a 20" rear wheel.I upgraded it to a 19" wheel, as the Magura mounts were in the position for a 19" rear wheel, and the V's that came on it were for it's 20" one.As the T-Vee has V mounts on it, you might have difficulty setting up the brake for the 19" wheel.I'm not saying it can't be done, as I've never tried it. If people on here say they've done it, then go for it.
abtrials
it will fit defo i have a friend who has dont the same thing? just do it i dont think the people who are saying it wont know about it reallyplus its only 25 for a 19" rim and about 20 for a tyre hardly going to rob the bank a? ruckus_street
T bird frame is not the same as the TveeTvee has vee mounts (funny that lol)and the T bird has 4 bolt maggie mountsDon't think brakes are as easily moved down with 2 bolt v-mountsSo if i were you, i'd borrow a mates wheel for a few minutes and stick it on, see if it works
Captain Scarlet
I'm talking of the 2007 models of T-Birds and T-Vees.ruckus_street, the 07 T-Birds only have 2 bolt mounts, not 4 like some of the previous T-Birds.
David20
Won't work mate.
ruckus_street
well either way, ur best bet is to try it with a mates wheel first if you can, otherwise, it'll be a real hassle if it doesn't workIf it does, let us know, im curious loland also, Are u fitting maguras to the tvee when u get it? CurtisRider
it does workyou may need to deepen your horizontal dropouts a tad though, so basically continue the slot for another cm, and thatll bring the wheel into a position to where the 19inch wheel will set up fine for the mounts ive put a 19inch wheel in a t vee, and run the brake fine, its not difficult
