Broomer
any of you guys use a hope mono trial on a stock with a 160mm rotor? is it powerful enough, because all stock riders i know use a 180mm, and ive just bought one thats 160mmliam
Tall_Rob
We use a 180mm rotor because it has greater braking power than a 160mm rotor.Could be used on a mod as it's lighter but you're riding stock, so your gonna need as much braking performance as possible.I'd invest in a larger rotor, only £20 (ish)Hope that helps.Rob
steve@banbury-trials
bigger wheels = more leverage .so bigger brakes are required .i think if you try the search button you'll find a page explaining the different forces different size brakes and wheel make steve
Andrex
I use a 160 on a mono mini and there is definitely not enough power in it, I'd suggest in getting a 180 its bound to work better. You need a bigger rotor for more power if the bike is bigger.

Prawny Baby
I ran a 160 for 6 months - it was fine.then why are you now running a 203mm avid we all know you dont even need brakes rowan.....i had a 160 for about 6 months, and it really was WANK, didnt excite me at all, and in that time i stopped doing ALL front wheel moves, as it just didnt have a chance.the 180 however, was awesome! GTF
I had a 160mm. Worked just fine So you dont need a 180mm
ian
if your going to put a 180 rotor you might aswell go for a 200mm rotor as bigger is always better
Egg Fried Rice
looking at these comments they dont seem to good and you've bought it already?my friend has a stock with a 160mm before but his brake had something wrong with it but on some things it could still hold up to frontwheel etc.JK
Broomer
yeah its no big deal as a mates got a 180mm rotor and an adapter laying around its just another unnecessary cost.
joe b
Do not bother buying a 160mm disc for a stock; it will be pretty pathetic. You should get a 180mm rotor, at least. Or, if i were you, go for a 200mm rotor ...Cheers,Joe.
Broomer
any one have a 200mm rotor and an adapter laying around by anychance?
Tomm
Try the 160 and see how you go? If you decide to buy a bigger rotor/adapter then it's easily done, but you might as well try it first. My opinion is that the Hope is a really decent brake, but it's a bit of a waste having it on a small rotor as it probably won't live up to its potential. But like I say, try it and see
Broomer
it should be here today, so ill put it on and try it at the exeter indoor comp, i wont be entering but ill be going for a ride after, and if it doesn't hold up ill buy a 180 rotor off a mate. abtrials
it will be fine, but if you can get a bigger rotor i would its only going to make it bertter
Damon W
NEVER use a 160mm on a stock.FACT avid bb7s are more powerful then hopes, and i know a few with 160mm avid on stocks, i wouldnt bother to be honest but depends how big u go 2 front i suppose have done with it and get a 203 avid
