Remember, you and only you knows how much work you need to do to get the grades you need. Don't f**k up and it'll all be cool.

There's some fortunate people (like me and some others who've posted) who don't need to do much work to get passing/high grades but others will need to put some work in.

High grades at GCSE *WILL* help you later in life/education/whatever. Don't treat them as worthless qualifications because they simply aren't.

EDIT: I've already done mine and I'm on A levels btw, just to make clear, my post made it sound like I was still doing them to me haha

Just had my mocks last week and doing a 10 hour art exam today and tomorrow. English was a load of crap i fell asleep, maths was easy got my self a high B and a high A on the calc paper. I think of i actually revise for the real exams i should get my self all A's and B's (which would be nice).

What you all planning on doing when you leave school. I'm either doing an apprenticeship at BMW doing robotics engineering or an apprenticeship doing plumbing and heating. there's good money in both so not to fussed which one i do really.

Yeah. GCSE's aren't "unimportant" but they're not as hard as you're gonna expect. For most of you anyway.

I went (and still go to) a grammar school so not being snobbish but we didn't have any kids who only went to school because they had to kinda thing. So distractions were minimal, but just paying attention in lessons ended up getting me decent grades as I did sooo little revision.

Maybe about 2 hours per subject in total, out of school? The night before kinda thing.

If you do do well though, it'll definately help you with your A-Level stuff and if you're planning to go to work then they do make a big difference if you want to get anywhere that pays good money :)

Put the effort in and you will be fine. The best way of revision for me, was past exam papers- do them find where you go wrong, make sure you can do it, go again and repeat until you can do the whole thing.

GCSEs are important, especially if yoru planning on leaving school after them and not doing anything further, as there the only official academic qualification you will have to your name that can easily be compared to others.

Relax, especially if there only mocks. There there to get you used to major exams, and pick up on yoru weaknesses. there not just there to piss you off, so use them wisely!

our school used to have end of year exams every year, really got us into the whole exam thing which meant not many of used were stressed over exams. to this day i don't panic over them, it makes it soo much easier.

4A*s 5As and 2Bs to show for it woo!

have they got easier or are people just getting smarter?

Almost everyone in this topic is getting all A's...then a bunch also getting Bs....then like one person with possible Cs too

Can someone explain the English school system to me? Like when do you sit GCSE's and when do you sit A-Levels or whatever they are called? Sorry but i live in Australia and so i imagine our schooling system is probably a bit different.

Primary education(ages 5 to 11) in which you take sat exams in your last year

Secondary education (ages 11 to 16) in which you take GCSEs in the last year

Then you go on to take your A levels (2 more years) if you want, but you can also, go to collage, start a job or number of other things.

From what I hear in my school kids are getting smarter and stupider in equal proportion. i.e. higher sets are f**king clever, but lower sets don't even know how to draw a cube...
