RobinJI
Just got an A-bikes one for my Rear XTR and it feels even stiffer than an Odysse. Same price aswell.Link
La Bourde
I heard that to improve the braking performance and feeling, you can use a nokon hose.Unfortunately, it's very expensive (30£).
ian
I heard that to improve the braking performance and feeling, you can use a nokon hose.Unfortunately, it's very expensive (30£).i believe that cable just allows you to run tighter bends in the cable yet not bending the inner cable as that is the kinda cable we use on our racing bikes. joe b
My XTR is fine. To be honest with you, even though i don't know a lot about cable hosing, i would just get something around the £10-£15 mark. Then you know that you haven't bought cheap shit and also you haven't spent unnecessary money .Cheers,Joe.
Tom Booth
I'm runnning a cheapo cable on mine, its still mega powefull and has a nice feel to it.

nickyw
A bit off topic,But on my front vee iam useing a very cheap "tektro" cable. It's made my vee for some strange reason feel uber nice. When i get a bb7 iam gonna be useing a sinz-racing bmx cable but down. Then maybe later on,Ill be useing a a-bikes cable.
Mark W
Seriously, just run an Odyssey Linear Slic. It's the cable all over BMX companies have copied (So the A.Bike Co Illegal cable IS just an Odyssey rebranded...), they're ridiculously stiff, really smooth, and really cheap. £6.99 (I think...) from www.Pijin.co.uk with free postage
Dan6061
My mate had a Nokon on his BMX. And it felt terrible.Wasn't smooth at all, and took ages to respond, as far as brakes go.Even after everything was oiled and set-up properly.I have a standard Clarks cable on mine, and it feels fine. Nice and smooth.
Tony Harrison
Seriously, just run an Odyssey Linear Slic. It's the cable all over BMX companies have copied (So the A.Bike Co Illegal cable IS just an Odyssey rebranded...), they're ridiculously stiff, really smooth, and really cheap. £6.99 (I think...) from www.Pijin.co.uk with free postage I rode someone's bike with a linear slic and it was horrible. All crunchy when you pulled the brake hard.
Mark W
We've all ridden bikes with shit brake setups though? It just sounds like his was either old or not well lubed, or the cable routing wasn't so great or whatever - it's the same as any brake, if it's not set up well it'll feel shit. SAme way that the guy above you said he didn't like someone else's Nokon, when other people regard them as the best cables money can buy?EDIT: Ian - are you sure it was a Linear Slic and not just a Slic? It's usually the Slics that feel shit, I hated mine so much...
IOLO
dont get nokon, i had it on an avid and on a rear v brake, it wasnt good.its get clogged up quikly and its not worth the price.the linea slick is dam good, and very good for the ££but i just use an inner and an outer off random bikes from the tip.works great for me, oil it!iolo. chrishayton
yeh just get a halfords one, thats all i use and my brake is awesome
Ali C
I am using nokon at the moment, seems good, is very stiff. But I also really like Shimano xtr 5mm gear outer (same as linear cables) they are very stiff and very smooth.
mat hudson
i found the linear slicks not to be as smooth as the regular ones to start with and the only way i can describe the feeling is kinda notchy, anyway after a while they smooth out and they are insanely stiff.
