Front Brakes

i wouldn't go back to a maggie on the front now, a disc has the same power (if not more) with much much more control. Stoppies are sooo much more fun. :P

The disadvantages of a disc is that you can land on it when sidehopping and stuff like that, not that i ever have. Also, they can be quite costly.

I'd go disc if you can. (Y)

Most people's experiences with a rear vee are on crappy kids bikes, budget mountain bikes or starter trials bikes, non of which have well set up brakes very often.

A decent vee (not a deewhore) such as a good avid or xtr, with good cables, and either trials specific vee, or maggie pads with an adaptor can be just as powerful as an hs33, maybe not in theory, (might not give as many newton thingamy wotsits of stopping power) but they can lock DAMN well, and have much better backwards holding power, especially with a good grind.

Rear vees for life!

i do think front disks are excellent though. Avid bb7's have an excellent rep, and mono trials too

but sure, everyone knows the most efficent brake is still a stick in the spokes :P

i know iv sidetracked a bit from the topic title (about front brakes) but jus thot id explain how vee's can be a very efficient brake (and u get extra respect too..."wow he gapped that really high!" "i know, and he's only got vee brakes" :P (little do they know.....)

Pauloliver recommended me to go vee for a bit,Did it.....F**king awesome! Only on the front though. My set up is avid sd7 arms,Avid sd5 lever,Tektro cable and plazmatic spanish flys on a worn down grind. My set up of a vee doesn't sound good. But i'm telling you,There's no going back for a maggy on the front...NEVER.I just find the vee having loads and loads more power than a maggy.Oh and on topic id reccommend a avid bb7 with a nokon cable and ultimate lever if your not on budget and maybe a 180mm rotor to carm the power down a little. :P But if you are on budget,Ill still go for a bb7 but maybe get a xtr lever,Bmx cable and 180mm rotor. EDIT: To let you all know,My vee cost me £10 at the most. (Y)

i would run a dewhore over a xtr (especially on the rear) the parrallel push system on the xtr would go all sloppy, loose and horrid after a while!

anyhow, yeah vee are just as good (if not better) as maguras. Maguras can be good too though :)

yeah bb7s are a great brake :)

No Oil - no problem

so my choise is BB7 with 203 rotor

OFF

My Friend Melnik proved that modulation depends on working your finger!

he can do long nose manuals (about 0 meters) on hs-33!!!

if you can work right with your finger - your brake will be working as you want!
