Ducko
i think when you do something you know you can do it and your confident about it in the back of your mind i dont think you just go for it as this usual results in crashes and if someone doesnt do something they more than likely do it a mmonth or so later when they feel more confident
David20
in my mind i just say to myself f**king just go for it it works for me Really I just tell myself to stop being a pussy and get on with it usually and in my head I know aslong as I commit for it fully, I'll be fine Edited December 4, 2006 by David20
The Duck
Thats how i get everything done the phrase "f*ck it" is brilliant. Also not thinking about it works. If you sit ontop of a drop thinking about what could go wrong some thing probaby will.Excuse wise i always hear :my rims are dirty; brake is shit and the classic "Its to wet." Joey B I think all those excuses have come from my mouth haven't they Joe? I've really got to get round to getting some balls...
Ash-Kennard
also, someone i know, bullshits beyond all belief, says he can do a very large drop gap, side hop 42" and is generally a total liar, we ask him to do the drop gap and side hops ecerytime we see him, the responce is "i can't be bothered today" i mean wtf, i smell bullshit
Jang
Personally, when i'm out i don't tend to try and do 15 foot drops and 9 foot gap downs and stuff like that, i prefer to find 'x' wall and just see what ways i can get up it and improve technique, once i've warmed up arsing about with things like that i tend to go for the bigger ups and gaps, but still not big 'street' i prefer more tech stuff, its not 'impressive' by any means.. However i enjoy myself when i'm out riding and thats what matters. If i do feel a bit sorta 'ermm i'm poo'ing myself here' i tend to leave it for that particular ride, go home strip my bike down completely, check over components and then next ride i feel 110% again with my bike. Knowing everything is 110% at the right torque settings and generally sexy smooth can help your riding performance (does mine anyway)Basically, if something is to big to the point where i'm poo'ing myself, i don't get cheesed off i just improve whatever techniques i need to to enable me to ride it later. I tackle street in a very compy kinda way "i wanna get from here to here, only put my foot down 5 times or i start again, both feet down i start again, no bashing either" kinda thing.. I enjoy it... You lot probably think thats boring, but i enjoy it. Edited December 4, 2006 by Jang
Jez
To quote the inimitable Rob Warner: "If you're gonna do something, do it. Worry about it afterwards."About the only bit of advice you should EVER take from that man. It's true - if I spend ages analysing whether I can do something or not, I won't do it. If I just roll up without really looking at it, it's not really a problem. A brief glance is all that should be done...About the only thing that will stop me doing something is if I know it's way out of my limits, or if there's a 90mph gale blowing. Or if I've recently stacked it on said move. For some reason that really f**ks my confidence up, which just destroys any chance of you making a move. Same move, different wall or whatever, not a problem though for some strange reason. As for excuses, there's thousands of great ones. "It's the wrong day of the week", "my dog's just died", "some dude 300 yards down the road was looking at me", "I've got a pair of El Gatos on" etc.Actually, the last one IS viable. PaRtZ
1 ) If I know I can do it but im scared, I just tell myself its gonna hurt LOADS more if I do a half arsed attempt. Say for a rail gap, if I go and bottle out and fall short, im either going to go flying over the rail or bounce off the bike and fall off backwards.2 ) I know Im bad for blaming the wind in everything I do lol. Best one I heard although prob not an excuse was either Stan shaw or Danny butler in the tartybikes natural vid saying "eurgh its got like, green on it"
