dan the trials man
Hi allI have had a great weekend out on my bike but i have a problem with my brakes, first my front one pad moves faster and more than the other pad and second the rear feels like all the fluid has gone but there is no visible sines of a leek, it also makes a metal tinging noise so i think the coil may have gone inside the hose. Can any one help me, i was going to just get a new hose and bleed both brakes is it a simple proses replacing a hose and bleeding your brakes or is it best left to the experts.thanksdan

James@swanseatrials.com
tighten every bolt up and wipe away any excess fluid that has arisen there. Press the brake lever to feel if its slow and weak. If so it will need to be re blead which is generally the case, but on occasion you might get away with it as there might be enough fluid left inside to have enough pressure. I would also recomend bleeding the brake with water instead of fluid as it reacts a lot quicker than brake fluid.

will
Bike products and related tools can all be found at bike shops e.g. Tarty Bikes. If you have questions pertaining to Magura parts why not look on the Magura website - this can be found by searching on google for Magura. If your maguras arent leaking but feel like crap you will need to re-bleed them. Refering to the 'clinging' noise I dont know what it is, but there is no coil in the hose. Investigate and try and establish what is wrong with it, then maybe email Magura. The oil in the brake is there for a reason, having said that if you need to bleed it quicksnap water & af wont do any short term damage, mine has been fine for 18 months. If your pistons arent moving the same distance lube up the sticky one.
adam trials
if you use the submerged method for bleeding your maggies that should loosen up the side which is sticking water does not damage the brakes unless the freeze up and the leavers hit something(by falling over etc)i have gone through 2 levers by this happening if you add anti-freeze it does not clog anything up and if your bike does fall against anything they will just push the pads to the rim as it does when you brake normaly
