JonCongreve
I think Adam and Dave @ Tartybikes said they wouldn't grind the 2006 Echo rims in their workshop purely because of the anodised surface as the powder it gives off when being ground isn't very nice at all. You can do it yourself as a mate of mine did, just do it outside in an open space and ideally wear a face mask of some sort

ian
well my old echo wheel set are going strong on my mates bike after nearly a year, so i would say they are plenty strong enough to be ground all the time.that clears up my thoughts then so ill grind it tonight. Guest
I wouldn't say grinding will make them much weaker, they are just shite to begin with. I've lost count of how many i've seen break in vid's now....
ian
Dont grind 06 Echo rims. Dont even get one. The are made of cheese!mate i have had no problems with the 2 sets i have had and built, my last set i sold to a mate are going strong now and have only been trued like 3 times and they got abused by me and the person who has them now and the set i have now are still perfect. i thinmk personally it is down to how they are built in the first place and how you treat your stuff. N.Wood
My generic reply to 'Echo '06 rims are shit' ahoy...Mine's fine after nearly a year?Ground it and all was well, just takes a few grinds to completely remove all the anodizing, i found small anodized bits after a few grinds but it makes no difference. Bollocks. Ground a 2006 Echo rim at home and had no problems at all. There's always lots of dust when you grind a rim which has anodized sidewalls. I wouldn't wouldn't do it though, they're weak enough without one.
