IFallOffLots
Hey guys, I've just got back into trialsing again after about 3/4 years out. Bought a bike with a decent enough spec for me.It has a DMR Sidekick frame (oh noes! cries of 'Old School!' I hear!) Which is great for the moment (I'm pretty much just riding to Uni and back) although I'd like to get back into riding properly, providing I find some guys around the Leeds area to ride with (hint hint) anyway.I have absolutely no idea what's hot and what's not in terms of frames at the moment, I see a lot of people rave about the Echo Control frames, and I really think these look swish, although I really like the look of the Adamant A1 and A2 frames (how come the A2 is only £179 yet the A1 is £299? is there really that big a difference?)I'm quite a heavy rider (13 Stone!) and obviously don't exactly have perfect technique at the moment, I'm not into doing big drops and the like (prefer more technical riding as that's what always interested me).I'd also like some advice on the whole short/long frame choice, from my reading here I understand shorter frames are more flickable but longer frames are easier to get up stuff with (i.e tap with)? I'm about 5'9 in height if that makes any difference. So anyway, mainly I'm after some advice on a frame, so suggest away Cheers chaps. GTF
Echo Control *** Get one!The Adamant A1 07 (short one) is also good though, but the control is better. The A1 have better geo, and is made my a different metal than the a2. And it got more cnc details.

IFallOffLots
Hmm upon doing a forum search (which I should have done first really ) quite a lot of peeps seem to knock the Adamant A2/A1 frames, the A2 because of it's material and both of them because of their high BB?Oh how my knowledge grows rofl.I think the Echo frames are the daddy atm, Control or Pure (which you can't get from tarty with the HS33 mounts anymore ) are my choices atm. Surely not? Think it's gonna have to be the Control. Are the '07s worth it over the '06s? Keep in mind I'm used to riding 'old school' type frames (had a Club Roost stinger before this DMR) so probably wouldn't notice too many subtle differences in Geo until I'm back into riding..Cheers for the advice guys. IFallOffLots
I've had a mysterious PM out of the blue about various BT Ravens The Raven06 to be specific..Does anyone have any experience with these? I've done a forum search but most of the threads are a few months old and I can't find many opinions on their general feel/strength.
Ash-Kennard
pogo stick styleee, just get the control, would be much much better imo
IFallOffLots
Aye seems like all signs point to a Control.Think I'll hunt around for a second hand '06 if possible, I'd like to get the '07 but I'm really not too fussed. One thing I do need some help with is deciding on a short/long frame. What are the general positives and negatives about either option (the noob is strong in this one!).Also, I currently have a hope bulb and an 8 speed cassette on my DMR, will this be alright with the Control? Thanks again.
Ash-Kennard
ive got the long one, i like it, but it could be too long if you know what i mean. but this is fork dependant too
IFallOffLots
I'll be using some Fatty Rs on it if that makes a difference? One thing that does annoy me about my Sidekick and that i've never experienced before is when I pivot on the front wheel my foot usually hits the front tyre (I don't have big feet or have my foot too far forward on the pedals). I don't have big feet either! This is annoying as I love doing the old front wheel 360 pivoty drop thingys (I'm sure there's a more technical name for them lol) I'm not too sure on the wheelbase of the sidekick but could compare them I suppose. Yeah, it'll fit fine in an 06 or 07 vertical dropout version.Personally I'd go with the short control, as even the short ones are hardly 'short' I mean 1030-40 would be short, there more kinda sensible length. You say you're 5'9", so am I and I find anything longer than 1070ish just a bit too long. Makes it a bit of a handful, and kinda crappy for anything other than rear wheel stability. All depends how you ride, but for general all round riding, and old school style stuff the short would be better really in my opinion. IFallOffLots
LMAO did rav pm you That guy talks out his f**king arse...might of lost a mate because of his bullshit lol Yes it was Rav, didn't quite know what to make of it really. Oh well. The frames look nice anyway! Thanks very much for the help guys, definately going to go for a control, I must have sent out 5 PMs today from various for sale ads to see if people are still selling their controls I wish I'd done a bit more research before I bought my DMR, still got quite a good buy on it but the price i'm gonna pay for a control frame is about 4/5ths of what I paid for this entire bike!
