Prawny Baby's Baby
I am building up my gorgeous mod bike and think i may have encountered a problem. I am trying to run a tryall freewheel (which according to another thread on here is 29mm wide) and monty square taper cranks on a 122.5x68 vp bb. With the crank on the bb there appears to only be a 20mm gap for the freewheel to fit in, between the start of the threads and bb shell. This is somewhat to small!Surely if i was to get a 127.5x68 bb it would only be gaining 2.5mm so would it still be too small?Am i missing something, prehaps those freewheel measurements are 10mm too big (here's hoping!!)Thanks for any advice, my blokey is useless with mods!!!xxx
Bigman
Yeh, Nick i useless with any bike!!!!I would say that it is worth a try with the 122.5 but it may end up being that you will have to go for a longer BB, if that is the case you could go for an Echo (Echo BB with offset axle) one which is offset to the right which will give you a little more space for the freewheel Hope that helped Tori, if you need any more help add me to MSN: adamjp6@hotmail.com AdamPS: i own prawn
Prawny Baby
Thanks for any advice, my blokey is useless with mods!!!now now darling....ive just not spent all that much time with those little kids bikes on a serious note.....is the tryall freewheel particularly wide due to the imense number of pawls in it?>otherwise, i dont see how freewheels could fit on a 127.5mm bb.....or does the inside of trh freewheel sit OVER the bottom bracket slightly?its great having my own mechanic now i just sat in my chair surfing TF while tori fitted her bottom bracket and headset
Onza Kieron
i just sat in my chair surfing TF while tori fitted her bottom bracket and headset Hahaha, I bet your good in bed too "I just surf T-F while she works away..It's great" More seriously, It WILL work with a 127.5 BB as there is currently nothing out longer than this so it must... Good luck, and Prawn, Get out that seat and help her! I'm sure she'll repay you.

If its comfy on the 127.5 sounds like it won't fit on my 122.5 but nevermind not too expenive to sort out.
Guest
It's really comfy on a 127.5mm though, and my taper's are a bit poop so the crank goes further in than it normally would. Im running an ENO on my other set of monty cranks and even with the tab's at full size there is load's of clearance, I think it should be ok for you but i'll take a few measurement's when I get home if I remember.....
