Vw Beetles

Hey, ive been 18 for a while now and everyone seems to be driving already but Ive put it off a bit (Mainly due to cost!) Im quite intrested in Beetles. Im just wondering if anyone has one/had one and what the insurance was like? Are they tax exempt?

P.S Im talking about old style Beetles not new ones

i'm put off by the nazi connection and the fact they're slow & uncomfortable but each to their own

If you get one old enough it'll be tax exempt (used to be 21 years - maybe older now). There may be problems with emission levels but then again you might get away with it if the car is old enough.

Not quite sure how it works - my driving instructor was telling me about it while I was negotiating a particularly unpleasant junction so I wasn't paying full attention.

If its 1972 and before then its tax exempt. The good thing about Beetles is you can change the engine in a matter of 15 minutes... We've got a VW Camper Van which is 1972 and so its tax exempt. Lovely thiing.
