Tommy d
I'm getting new bars and stem for Christmas. The bars are going to be Easton EA50 2" rise. However I know nowt about what stems are out there.I'm after something short. My current stem is around 60/70mm and that's fine; I wouldn't want anything much longer. A bit of rise wouldn't go amiss but I'm not too fussed. The bars come in either 25.4mm or 31.8mm clamp size so I could go either way with the stem.Basically I have very little idea of what's available so fill me in please! Preferably cheaper than a £55 hope...Thanks
paolo
How about the nicest stem ever ? [here] Ok, I know It's 62 [insert weird uk money symbol] but it's 156 grams and so nice, beat that ! You could probably find a good deal on them somewhere, but I don't really know UK bike sites...Other than that, for block style stems, they are pretty much all the same, I'd suggest going with a high rise 31.8 bar with a really small stem, twist the bars forward a bit and you have the reach of a longer stem but you can actually turn and spin. Ash-Kennard
azonic ORC stems are good value and at 90mm long, probably the perfect length, i ran 1.5 eastons and this stem on the leeson, good combo

RobinJI
I'd go with a 65mm Easton Vice, Really nice stiff stems, and not too heavy, will match your bars too. Get them in 25.4mm, Easton's just don't look or feel as nice in 31.8Linky(unfortunately that's the not so pretty 31.8 version in the picture, but trust me the 25.4 is gorgeousI'm currently running a EA30 2" rise bar and a 65mm Vice stem both 25.4, it just feels right, looks great, is in your price range, and isn't heavy. What more could you ask for?Oh yeah, a link for the Thompson if you feel like shelling out a bit more, that in 70mm would be sweet.

Tomm
I would probably go for something cheap-ish. Just because you never really know what size you want, and you don't wanna waste £60 on a stem, only to find out it's too short or something. So buy a cheap one and then you can change it if it's wrong. You're doing well if you break a stem, so I wouldn't worry too much about strength. The only other thing is the pimp factor, and it's up to you whether that's worth £
