Concussion
Choose your favourite discipline and pick a bike more specific to it. It's not like you can't ride a certain bike for other activities, but it really does help to have the right tools for the job. What you wanna do anyway, XC/DH/Trails/Trials? This is trials-forum you know! Get a T-Rex!
scott-d-
i was looking at doing a bit of street or trials, but nothing to hardcore yet. i just need something to start me off so i can progress from there. is the dmr rythm or the 24seven slacker any good for the styles i have mentioned and do you know where i could maybe get some tutorials to ride the styles properly. thanks for your comment.just-learnin Edited November 26, 2006 by just-learnin
Concussion
Well `THE` place for trials tutorials is Trashzen. As for a bike, I guess a DMR Rhythm or any decent hardtail would be alright for street riding, although I would recommend buying a cheap'ish mod bike for starting trials. There so fun and agile, you can't help but get more into trials.Right, I'm off riding.... it's sunny out there!
jonny_smith
yeh the DMR Rhythm is a good street bike but maybe spend a bit less and buy a cheap trials mod as well eg. Onza T-Vee or similar n then you can do both and then choose which you prefer later on.
dan the trials man
you said xc didnt you well the slacker is not very good for that its more of a free ride hardcore hardtail and the rythm is crap my mate snaped his frame the first week he had it.247 darkangel is a good bike so is the new spesilized 07 p1 cromo i ride a 06 p2 very good street bike but would not recomend it for trials or xc.i would say get a trials bike i ride trials street and freeride now and trials is by far my favourite.hope it helpsdan
Tomm
There is no such thing as a bike for everything. You won't get a bike that's capable of doing XC and Trials. You won't get a bike that's good for DJ and Trials. And you won't get a bike that can do XC and DJ unless you buy a jump bike, and that'll be really hard work for XC. So you need to make a choice my friend. Trials is good
TonyB
Hello,If you want a XC bike then a hardtail from Marin/Kona/Trek/GT or something similar would be what I'd look for (check out Chain Reaction/Wiggle/Evans/Leisure Lakes websites). They all have a big range and something should suit your budget. XC on the Saracen is possible but I'd think it'd be hard work. Most of the bigger makes will do a decent entry-level bike for 300-400 quid. With the money you've got left over - get looking on EBay for a trials bike. And if you've still got some money left then you can upgrade or buy a big lock Tony
