The Real Big Bang.

Seems like I'm the only one who actually thinks it, speaking as a geek, is fairly cool.

Doesn't matter what it does, this isn't the first one, it's just the biggest.

For what it's worth CERN have made anti-matter, but it annihilates before they can even think about putting it in plastic orb like Angels and Demons.

It makes sense, in my mind, that understanding the "fundamentals" of our surroundings is inseperably linked to our well being. The more fundamental we get in our understanding of things, the wider such understanding can be applied because of the pervading nature of that which is fundamental and uderlying. I think learning to trackstand first, or having an initial ability of trackstanding would be of great help to all other trials activites?

Science and information will make and has made a hugh difference to our lives, in what I would personally consider to be positive way. So besides the fact I find what they're doing fascinating, I also appreciate the advancements they are attempting to make, in regards to the human condition.

What you don't know can't hurt you. :P

With the whole bomb thing. It could well be a possibility.

You think the guy who started to think about splitting the atom thought it would be turned into the bomb it became.

I'm no scientist so that could have been exactly what he meant to do.

But what i'm trying to say is, in this day and age to have power you need the best weapon out there. Especially with peeps like bush, you never know how closely he could be watching this. Might even have his cronies working on theories to make it into a bomb.

Think of it this way....

We have already made both fusion and fission bombs (H and A respectively) and they both work on quite simple principles, once you know how what's happening in atoms and stuff. I mean, uranium gives off massive amounts of energy when it's jst sat there, surely that's an incling that you could make a bomb out of it? So far, there have been no indications that there is a way to make a proton bomb - where would one start?

As for the political involvement...

You can bet your left bollock world leaders watch this stuff carefully. In fact, if you think the fact that this is being funded by England is a bad thing, just consider the implications if they *were* able to develop a bomb from the findings. We would be the first to have such a bomb. (Y) Alongside our German friends of course... but when have they ever been know to attack anyone. :P

Haha, what a lot of sensationalist bullshit. Red-top journalism strikes again! There's no point saying all the stuff about tractor beams, there's no possible reason to suggest that, they even say so nearer the start of the article [that they cannot predict the outcomes] they could just as well say it'll tell us why bumblebees are fuzzy. Science journalism pisses me off as a rule, even with stuff like new scientist you have to delve deep through the crap and unfounded claims to find anything worth reading...

I remember going on a A-level physics trip to something like this.. smaller scale but was same type of thing. They were using it on milk beleive it or not because it has some weird properties they said and they were using it to do something to paint. Can you tell i wasnt listening?

"Britain pays £78million a year towards it and is the second biggest contributor after Germany."

Nice to see thats why our NHS is f**ked

You are Piers whatisface aren't you? f**king scientists, they should be sent to Iraq to see what our boys are facing!
