Extreme_biker0
Yeah, but if you're at the lights in a porche next to a lad in a done up corsa, you're not gonna bother racing it. It's clear who the loser is already.

Token
no offence really, but how many new drivers have a corsa? 50% atleast. you've really got to ask if its justified spending 5k on a corsa and making yourself look like a new driver and also a abit of a willy for spending alot of money on a entry level car. not to mention a corsa isnt even designed to stick to the road doing 100+ so sooopin it up, your going to crash without a doubt. If you like wasting money then thats your choice really, but be prepared to be thought of as a total jebend.

Tony Harrison
and thats what i want, just to really piss people of who spend 20k on a brand new motor like a porshe or something or new evo or scooby where as i have spent about £5k and i will be able to do the same spends, may not have the name badge but who cares when you cant see it when you in the car.Oh, and you think Jack Flash in his DB9 is going to say 'Oh shit! I was ripped off! Should've bought a Corsa instead!'.As. If. What your brain needs to try and comprehend is the fact that there is far more to a car than max-speed/max-BHP. Ever thought about the fact it'll handle like a sack of potatoes, make you look like a chav, and probably fail the next MOT on rust?Personally, I'd rather spend £5k on a mint-as-f**k Series 1 RS Turbo... horner_boi
hahaha, you know what makes me laugh, all you guys trying to take the piss out of my idea when really all you can say is get a series 1 rs turbo, shows how much you know then, for a start the rs turbos leak, i have had 3 mates all had them all leaked in the same place, and everyone i know has said they are shit unless you have deep pockets to pay for repairs ands that before you start doing anything to it. so do the research if your going to try and recomend something, oh and im picking up a BMW 318ti compact next june, as i said this corsa is a project, completly different from the rest, and thats why i wanted help knowing what to do
TomR
In all honesty you'll be spending more than 5k on a corsa if you want it to beat fast cars. Also as your main car, it won't be very reliable atall. I'd seriously consider waiting till you have a better car, then buy another corsa and do it as a project. (edit: oh, it is apparently)Its not just a case of a corsa and an old XE or LET engine, its machinging new engine mounts, gearboxes and possibly mounts, clutches, brakes, wheels that the brakes will fit underneath, anti roll bars, coilvers, decent exhausts, and even then all you'll have is a standard astra engine and the ability to slow down efficiently afterwards. The main reason people put C20LET and C20XE engines into old vauxhaulls is because of the tuning potential, but because of the money you want to spend you wont really get far into any tuning. If you want to surprise people, as snappel said, get and old performance ford or something, rs2k or similar, because most people will still only see it as some old banger of an escort. Some easier transplants you may want to consider:Astras: Mk3 engines go straight into other mk3's IIRC, and Mk4 engines go straight into other mk4's. check out www.migweb.co.uk and www.astrasport.co.uk for info.Fiestas - very easy to do engine tranplants, can even put reconditioned 2.1 mondeo zetec lumps in them. Mk4 fiesta interiors fit straight in and theyre generally very simple to work with. Buy an original un-thrashed RSOC registered S1 for £5k, maintain it properly and it'll go like a dream. They're not suited to Maxpower reading chavs. I did say 'personally I'd rather spend...'.Legend! Someone else here actually believes in the old fords!Damn straight! MadManMike
Err how? Redtops are 2.0 16v's.Power to weight ratio? My mates Starlet 1.3 Turbo was faster than a 1.6 Saxo VTR by a long shot - the size of an engine doesn't determine it's speed always. munkee
Theres nothing like watching people waste money for no reason. Just so one lump of metal can move faster than another and their ego can grow. Id rather have any form of £20,000 than a modified corsa... Theres more to driving than trying to get one up on everyone. No matter what you do theres always someone faster so theres no point. Like has been said.. are the expensive car drivers going to "shit i got beaten by a corsa.. my god i think i might go home and hang my head in shame".To summarise....Dont do it.. keep your money for something worth while doing. You mase well start putting money in to your mortgage fund.

Andy P
A good friend of mine splashed out and bought a spanking nova merit complete with full grandma brown interior and some lovely 15" steelies for £800... Came with a Redtop, V6 brakes and a cupholder. I couldn't get anywhere near it 0-150mph, awesome toy.I'd quite fancy doing an XE corsa one day (for tracks and the likes)... saying that, I wouldn't spend over 1K on doing it.Loads quicker than most would think.Andy P.The nova don't handle for shit though...
