nmt_oli
Fair enough.I do agree Vs are quicker to set up than magies, but that wont personally get me to use them. I like maggies and thats that. Had vs on a previous build, didnt like it. also tried rear disk wasnt the best, although i liked it.
Ali C
the main reason I like vees is due to the adjustable tension, I have big problems with arm pump when using maguras, but as son as I switched to a vee that went, and my comp results got better. nmt_oli
Fair enough, ive never personally had that problem with maggies. I always set up v's ( if im runnign them on a bike) at a high tension, rather than a low one. again personal preference. Interesting. If you run low tension, and do a lot of comp riding doesnt grit and mud kinda muck up the cable and/or pivot springs casing unevern tension, and poor return? I get that on my commuter bike in the winter.
Onza Kieron
It is a proven fact that water does not damage the insides of maguras in short term (two or three years) so that won't be the problem unless your brake is ancient. I say, regrind rim (preferably get someone with a working back brake to grind it incase YOU are the problem. Then rebleed brake in bath, with no air inside. Remember to ensure the TPA is all the way off, clean pads and sandpaper until they are clean/got no old rubber showing on the face. Set brake up/pump tyre up etc. Go ride! Then report with a new problem that your chain has snapped or whatever
Radfax
So basically we have decided that water bled brakes are amazing and just need to lube the pistons everynow and then. Surely there is a better fluid closer to the liquidity of water but more oil based? As for the brake, Clean your rim with soapy water or de-greaser, buy a brand new grinding disc and re-grind it.I hav a whole tank of unleaded in the garage doing nothing, so instead of burning it i shall bleed my brakes with it, thanks for the idea Ali! My friend is trying to tell me that after a few months my brake will be completely ruined and unfixible. Is this true?
Greetings
By ancient, do you mean a 2003 model of the hs33? My friend is trying to tell me that after a few months my brake will be completely ruined and unfixible. Is this true? He might not be able to answer that dear. I've just got a sneaky suspicion that since that post he's had kids and grandchildren and he's now living happily in a retirement home. Mark W
Although they fill me with the sort of powerless rage that I also get from seeing acts of animal cruelty, reading the amount of interesting made-up stories about what X did to Y's Magura still amuses me. Best one I heard was someone saying that their water-bled frozen Magura split the hoses and burst all over their carpet, staining it. My Fresh Products lever put a hole in the piston when it froze My fault for not bleeding with an anti-freeze mix and letting the TPA off when I put it in the shed over night
